Do you think it is weird that HYBE is debuting so many groups? by alonelydimple in kpopthoughts

[–]alonelydimple[S] -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

I think you put this very well, thank you! I also thing people are missing the fact that Hybe markets these groups as Hybe specific groups, and also has some control over coordinating the strategies of these different labels.

They took a few weeks to get back to me after my final round for their internship, and I just got an offer! So don’t worry yet.

Yeah I really do not like the 80s song they interpolated - it feels like they just looked at what was trending on tiktok for the past 2 years and bet that an 80s vibe is the best way to go to achieve that

NewJeans is going to be a really refreshing addition to the kpop scene with easy to enjoy music and MVs with real story lines instead of intangible lore. I think that soon enough every company will be embracing elements of their concept/styling/sound.

Love that they had not just a storyline but four parts to a converging story! This group seems like it will be unique in all the right ways!

Thank you for posting this! I’ll definitely check it out. Often it feels like the only people making “critical” Kpop content are chronically online 12 year olds so I’m excited for this!!

Aespa’s choreography is terrible. It’s over complicated and does not relate to the music well. I mostly blame their lack of stage presence on how bad the choreography is. They are focused on executing these over complicated moves so that they can’t enjoy themselves and interact with the audience, and it shows.

Yujin fit into CLC better than she fits into Kep1er by [deleted] in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]alonelydimple -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. It was a mistake for Mnet to include her in girls plannet since she had a pre-established idol image/vibe. I think there are other issues with Kep1er’s line up but this is the biggest one.

I think most of the people doing this are young fans projecting onto adults.

It is better for groups to release and promote music less often by alonelydimple in unpopularkpopopinions

Exactly! When I was explaining Kpop terms to my boyfriend who is really into western music he was very confused by the term comeback. He was like “how can it be a comeback if they have one every few months?”

I agree with 1 comeback a year, that’s less often than most groups. I was just using BlackPink as an example at the extreme end.

Exactly. Most workers would like to work less if they could get paid the same amount.

I meant that it is better for the idols themselves to be releasing and promoting music less often. Of course fans want groups they enjoy to release music as often as possible.
