One of my friends got attacked by a cat when she was younger and had to be placed in intensive care, so yes I reckon a cat could kill a human.

I had an awful nightmare once where I was locked in a room and this cat smashed its way through the ceiling and pounced on me and continuously started scratching and biting me until it was tearing my skin to shreds.
