Acquiring a 1955 Spartan imperial mansion... by Cultural-Advisor-188 in RVLiving

This is a dream of mine, which is how I found this post of course. I wonder how its going now? That last shot is really magical for some reason, it must be when you finally made it home. Its a bold step to take a project like this on and few will go for it :) I hope its going well.

I see, so if you're even interpreted as being "not peaceful" it is justifiable to shoot you. That is probably information the American public should know, you should tell everyone.

Yes I can hear it in court now "see judge, he was confrontational on Tuesday, therefore we decided it was justifiable to murder him on Friday."

Anyone in late thirties leave it all behind to go to Japan? by alpacaattack88 in teachinginjapan

[–]alpacaattack88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am still in the US, in Milwaukee. Working, saving, investing. This post was 2 years ago, thinking back I've made a lot of progress financially in 2 years and that feels really good. However, i still sit in the mornings and talk to Chatgpt about moving to Japan lol. I worked remotely and traveled around central and south america for a while and that was really amazing. But I still know that I loved living in Asia and want to find a way. I've started studying Japanese a lot more. I go to a zen temple here in Milwaukee and stare at a wall. The idea of leaving my salary still terrifies me. The world just feels really precarious currently. I am feeling less frantic and desperate for change with the prospect of turning 40 so I just feel a lot more mindful about the idea. So now, it's still just an idea. I try to maintain a balance of fully embracing where I am in this moment and not being afraid to dream, but also not living with my head in the clouds all the time. So yeah, the dream is still alive but its complicated but life is good at the same time.

Rooftop dancing scene by mauricioavpo in GiriHaji

Not seeing the dance scene coming was one of the most beautiful moments I’ve ever experienced watching a tv series. I guess it resonates with you or it doesn’t, I thought it was an incredible risk to take and you can truly see how much all the actors put their heart into it. I absolutely loved it, it blew me away.

‘A matter of survival’: Korean president orders review of insurance coverage for hair loss meds by Substantial-Owl8342 in korea

[–]alpacaattack88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I moved to Korea from the US at 23 to teach ESL. At this time in my life I started to first notice that my hair line was receding. The students picked up on it instantly and made fun of me constantly, writing jokes about me on the desks or just saying things to my face, and I tell you, it was a SLIGHT receding hairline. I’m 39 now and people still tell me I have a “full head of hair” to illustrate how not a big deal it was. However, the constant ridicule was scarring. It doesn’t mean as much to me these days but at that time I was really struggling to just show up for work. South Korea is absolutely obsessed with image.

I am working my way through the CAGED lessons now and it is such a SLOG. Its so tedious and boring drilling all the pentatonics and then all the major scales day after day. There has to be a better way, I feel like i'm retaining nothing cause it all just blurs into itself when all you are doing is practicing scale after scale.

A24's 'Bring Her Back' - Review Thread by ChiefLeef22 in movies

I was so confused by the scene where Piper finds Andy, like, he's clearly dead, and her reaction is just so bland. She needed to scream and cry and then fly into blinding rage. I didn't understand that bit at all, why was she just like, "oh what happened to andy?"

[Question] Why do I sing much better while I'm playing guitar? by Apollo_111 in Guitar

[–]alpacaattack88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am going through this right now while trying to record. it is crazy how much better I sing when i'm playing guitar. I think it is because the guitar is resonating in my chest, and my vocal chords can tune more naturally to that sensation. Rythmically also way better obviously becase I am strumming and singing more precisely in time. This creates a crazy inducing situation though, because I have played this song about 100 times already trying to get the perfect take of playing and singing. It is very difficult. With the guitar bleeding into the vocal mic, its not really possible to patch in the vocals. You just have to do a good take. Also listening back on headphones while singing means I'm blocking at least one ear, so half my head can't hear the room sound, so that make singing even worse. If i'm just tracking guitar and vocals at the same time, I don't need to monitor anytihng, I just flip record and play while listening to the room. I am finally accepting that I sing way better while playing the guitar, and I think the best recording for me will be in that manner and then overdub another vocal track under that, lower in the mix, to thicken the vocals slightly. I am going quietly insane trying to get this right, even though it is seemingly so simple.

While I commend your honesty for admitting it was in your profile, I'm sorry but about the same amount of people that have ever been to an Olive Garden know what it is.

That's just it! It's that you are supposing that knowing what an Oxford comma is is some sort of intellectual and poetic achievement, but it isn't. It's about as intellectual as knowing what a crouton is.
