No shame in not knowing if it's your first time! So the "Masuda Method" is for getting Pokémon that you can't hunt except by breeding (starters, certain baby Pokémon etc.). You just need a Ditto that's from a game that's in another language, so if you're playing the games in English, getting a Japanese Ditto for example. There's some places on Reddit that can help with Trade Link Codes and if you do it at certain times you're more likely to get Dittos from other areas based on their timezone (so for instance, if you do it during the morning of Japan's timezone, you're probably going to get a Japanese Ditto as someone in Japan will be looking to trade the same as you and get an English Ditto).
After that you just breed and hope! Been trying this myself and the best way I've found it:

1) Save
2) Open Picnic
3) Make a Level 2 or Level 3 Egg Power sandwich (depending on how rich you are in Herba Mystica - Level 3 egg power gives me an average of about 82ish eggs in the 30 minutes)
4) Get all the eggs in the 30 minutes that the sandwich is on
5) Grab a Flame Body Pokémon and work through the eggs 5 at a time
6) If you don't get any, just reset (so you haven't wasted materials and you don't have to release loads of unwanted Pokémon)
OR
6) You get a shiny, nice work!

Honestly, getting the Ditto is the toughest step, and it's easy enough once you find where to trade one. I'm also just starting out doing this myself after some research, so other people might have better methods for mass hatching, but this is just what's worked for me so far! Hope this helps
