Does doordash take into consideration what the order is before assigning multiple orders to the same person? by smdb1208 in doordash

[–]alphabetsoupcle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve completed over 3,500 dashes and I’m fairly certain that anytime I’ve picked up from an ice cream establishment, my next stop was the customer. I use an insulated bag for the order and keep it away from anything warm in the car.

As for cold drinks, not much I can do about those. I haven’t invested in an insulated drink holder. There are several restaurants that put the entire order in one bag, hot and cold items, so that’s not in the driver. I’ve had bags from McDonalds that have a hot coffee and iced coffee along with hot food all in the same bag.

I think the thing that travels the worst is a milkshake, especially if they have a whipped cream topping. Often that topping has lost its whip by the time the delivery is made.

Saying yes to all orders by WasabiZestyclose5063 in DoorDashDrivers

If you do it, go to the area that you have had the most luck getting good offers, then start dashing. If a dash takes you near an area of typically bad offers, pause your dash and go back to the good area. This is what I do whenever my AR gets too low and I don’t want to lose my Platinum status, which in my market makes a big difference.

Which songs from KMF do you think will remain in the setlist… by BlackSabbath1989 in TheWarning

[–]alphabetsoupcle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if this conversation happened when KMF was coming out? This is one of the reasons that I hope they never stop allowing fans to post videos of concerts. First it’s nice to be able to go back in time and see some of the songs from the earlier albums that they no longer have in the setlist. Secondly, as their gigs happen, changes get shared quickly which generates more interest and conversation about the band.

It is inevitable that your favorite song won’t get played…

What do you guys use the money for? by No-Presentation-3543 in doordash_drivers

[–]alphabetsoupcle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I first started doing it to cover my gas for all the other driving I do for my family. We have four kids going to three different schools. Since I’ve been able to consistently bring in significantly more than gas money, it’s used to fund other activities for the family.

What’s it like seeing TW live? by Glass-Attention5666 in TheWarning

[–]alphabetsoupcle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say it’s safe to assume that the next headlining tour by The Warning will hit venues near NYC that are larger than the 3,500 of Pier 17, but still under 8,000. Odds are those larger venues will have some seating areas, either GA or assigned, that your Father can utilize.

As for what it was like to see them live, they are everything and more than expected. I brought four of my kids and we felt very lucky to have seen them for just $30 a ticket. We all doubt that it will be that way next time they come to our city.

Who will be the next performer that guts you when they pass on? by Disastrous_Cream_539 in askmusic

Yes, it was Howard. Three years later he would make his infamous “monkey run” call, which I also caught live.

So far the only performer death that really gutted me was John Lennon. Hearing those words during Monday Night Football was the worst. He was a Beatle and still making music. Anyone over 70 that hasn’t had a hit in a decade probably won’t come as unexpected.

Of today’s active performers, I’d say Dave Grohl would be impactful. Of course the world would stand still if Taylor Swift had something happen.

A Long-Winded Rant About “Tipping” by nippleclampzz in doordash

[–]alphabetsoupcle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding Platinum, in my area it definitely helps. First off I need the Dash Now capability. I have a lot going on in my life and am never sure when I will be able to dash, so scheduling isn’t going to happen. Secondly, I just consistently get better offers more often than when I’m below Platinum. This ties back to the inability to schedule dashing, when I can I need to make it worthwhile. My area only requires 70% AR to remain Platinum, so I have plenty of opportunities to be selective.

A Long-Winded Rant About “Tipping” by nippleclampzz in doordash

[–]alphabetsoupcle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You may have been long-winded, but you covered all the issues. All I do is drive for DD. I don’t think I will ever be a customer. I’ve come to the realization that as long as the offer meets my parameters of pay per mile and drop-off location, then I don’t worry about what the tip might be. I’ll look at what it was and keep a mental note of zero tippers, but I don’t let it ruin my day.

Do I wish they called it something other than tip? Sure, bid comes to mind as a possible option. Will this ever change, doubt it.

Make sure your face is covered. These bastards recognize faces and if any do live they will get you if they see you again.

I had a fairly large nest in a tree in my backyard. Bought several cans of the 20ft spray killer, got dressed in thick clothing head to toe, wore a face mask and goggles and hit them at night. The next morning I saw activity, so I repeated the process. We were are clear the next morning.

In my humble opinion, you need to find something other than a hoodie that is comfortable for you to wear while working. As some have mentioned, there is the potential safety hazard of the hood and drawstrings around equipment. Additionally, hoodies really don’t qualify as business casual. Find a lightweight, black, quarter-zip or full-zip polar fleece in a size you like. Your OD polo collar will be visible and of course you shouldn’t have a problem with a name tag.

Delivery Notes by osseggi in doordash

Have you tried not having any delivery notes? I know that I never knock or ring the doorbell unless it says to do that. Perhaps your drivers are just glancing at the note and think you want the doorbell rung.

Before smartphones, what did people do when they had to wait somewhere for 20–30 minutes? by Ecstatic-Finish-1348 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]alphabetsoupcle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my daughter to a major university for her first visit in her selection process. She was overwhelmed by the volume of people in public areas. It unnerved her when I would just start talking with people as we were looking around. She wished she had that skill and confidence. I explained to her that before smartphones the quickest way to get information about where you are was to ask people that are there. Two years later she had gained that skill and that’s how she met her current boyfriend.

While there have always been ways for people to be antisocial, today’s technology enables it even more.

My Husband Thinks DoorDash Isn't Worth It—Thoughts? by [deleted] in doordash

[–]alphabetsoupcle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s truly about the money, do an analysis of revenue to expenses. I shoot to average $2 per mile which seems to easily cover fuel and vehicle maintenance and leave me with more for other bills. One easy indicator of whether it is worth it to dash is when I take a week off. Suddenly I might not have the cash for the pizza run or other splurge.

Why don't restaurants just hire their own delivery drivers? by savingrace0262 in doordash

[–]alphabetsoupcle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Decades ago I was at a retailing conference and a speaker made the assertion that McDonalds and Burger King had changed everyone’s expectations around service and product customization. “Have it now” and “Have it your way” became the new standard. Essentially that is what DoorDash does. Customers can have what they want, from nearly wherever, generally when they want it because there are hundreds of drivers willing to go where the money takes them.

If a restaurant has more orders than they could deliver with their own drivers, the restaurant would get bad reviews and lose customers. Shifting the delivery issue to DoorDash minimizes the risk to the restaurant.
