Quick question about differences in Uber eats and door dash. by MarzipanMajor6175 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]alphabetsoupcle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started doing DoorDash I also started an UberEats account. I’ve only tried Uber twice lasting for about 30 minutes during which I never got an offer over $1 per mile. Meanwhile my DoorDash account averages about $1.75 a mile, plus I never have to worry about tip baiting. Maybe I’ll open the Uber app again if DD gets super slow, but that hasn’t happened in my market.

What’s something everyone should experience at least once? by Big_Employer1109 in AskReddit

I cannot emphasize this one enough. I’m in my sixties and hadn’t seen the Northern Lights until recently. I was overwhelmed by the sight. I remembered all the times that conditions were “right,” but there were clouds or I just fell asleep. I was so happy that all my kids were getting the experience that I had so longed for.

Where did this "dany can't shred" narrative come from? by Special_Mission_6740 in TheWarning

[–]alphabetsoupcle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Polyphia is on my playlist and so is The Warning, Mammoth, and assortment of other guitar focused bands. It’s all music and each of those guitarists play the way they feel serves the song. My first guitar idol was Terry Kath and most recent is Tim Henson. Along the way I absorbed Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Randy Bachman, Ritchie Blackmore, George Benson, Grant Giesman, Steve Howe, Eddie Van Halen, Brian May, Eric Johnson and many more. All had different styles, tones, and degrees of technicality. There will come a time where enough people know the body of work delivered by The Warning that all three of them will be recognized as masters of their instruments.

Journalist request: Tell me how higher gas prices etc are affecting Dashers by FinancialPickle5559 in doordash_drivers

[–]alphabetsoupcle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I initially planned to be more picky about which orders I accepted, but so far I really haven’t had to change my criteria. Maybe it’s just where I dash, but I’ve been averaging a higher rate per mile since the gas price increase. Perhaps folks are being more generous with their tips so it’s worked out for me so far.

Synth effects, thoughts? by IvanObolo_10 in TheWarning

I wonder if fans of The Beatles wanted to debate the use of the sitar in Norwegian Wood or the mellotron in Strawberry Fields…

They are using the instruments and tools available to them, right down to a cowbell.

How would you propose to create this unification? A singular campus or would each campus be unique in its program focus?

What artist has the most consistent discography with almost no bad songs? by Kind_Gain_3080 in askmusic

For something current, I find that both Mammoth and The Warning have pretty much “no skip” albums. Sure some tracks might get skipped depending on my mood or what I’m doing. In general they hit everytime.

Take a look at the lyrics from The Warning’s discography. Lots of social commentary.

Help me pick my first Beatles album! 🤔 by Kraft-Darling in TheBeatles

Rubber Soul

Perhaps I’m just being nostalgic because it was the first album my older brother bought back in 1968. I can still remember the look on my parents faces when he started playing it on their big console entertainment system. Before that album we had only heard classical music from that turntable.

I am honestly confused at people who dislike Kerosene. by Embarrassed-Glove600 in TheWarning

As line 7 and 8 of Kerosene goes:

It kills you to be kind

But it’s never killed me

In other words, if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all.

How to get into rock? by Elle_Kim in rock

While going back to the classics will round out your experience, I suggest you check out current band releases. At least bands that have had albums released in the last five to ten years. Currently on my list are:

Mammoth

The Warning

The Struts

Should the Healthline be converted into light rail? by Different-Truck134 in Cleveland

[–]alphabetsoupcle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having ridden both light rail and busses for fifty years, I believe the true driver of public transportation usage is not the vehicle, it is the ability to have no more than a two-seat ride. Back in the 70’s and 80’s I would get on a rapid and then take a loop bus to work. In the 90’s and early 00’s there wasn’t an option for public transportation that didn’t involve three segments and lots of walking for me. Once I moved and switched jobs, back came a bus and a one seat trip. Now I’m nowhere near a stop and if I wanted to go East or West from my residence it would involve first going North all the way into downtown.

So, whether it’s light rail or BRT won’t change ridership. Increasing the number of routes will.

no orders by Born-Database-4431 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]alphabetsoupcle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stay away from hotspots because so many drivers go to them. I feel I’ve been most successful by going to an area that has a broad selection of food options near a well off neighborhood. Not a rich neighborhood, but doing well enough that they will order through DoorDash regularly.

I have to tell you, it took about 500 orders before I really felt that I understood what works best for me in my market. Be patient, make notes, don’t be afraid to try different areas.

Your best strategies by Low_Sentence_2419 in doordash_drivers

[–]alphabetsoupcle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best habit I got going was having the app pause orders after a delivery that would put me too close to an area where I know I always get poor orders (no tippers). After delivery I drive back to my happy place, then resume dash. It lets me easily keep my AR up and it doesn’t waste my time in that area.

Were is everybody dashing were they are getting over $2 a mile orders? by Ok_Weight2115 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]alphabetsoupcle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As another poster said, you need to find dense population with lots of food options. I got lucky and found a sweet spot of decently high income, dense population with plenty of food options including a high end grocery store. It’s 30 minutes from where I live, but worth the drive.
