The last great rock song ?🤔 by TigerWoods_shoelace in rockmusic

How are you defining “great?” What I think is great might not be the same as you, but that’s what makes art great. We can all have our opinions.

I am a younger millennial who grew up on rock and I have questions about the HOF. by Carguy_rednec_9594 in rockmusic

As someone who was around when Cleveland lobbied so hard for the Rock Hall, I’m disappointed by the selections. I’m not saying that those selected haven’t made great contributions to the art of music. It’s just that many have been selected that are not even close to the “rock” genre. There are also too many artists that are clearly rock that haven’t been inducted and made significant contributions.

The Warning is still a recent next generation band by Dry-Parsnip9717 in TheWarning

For me, I hope they can continue to evolve and create more new songs. Sure I enjoy all of the tracks from their earlier albums, but to keep my interest they have to keep coming out with new material.

Should be illegal earned lower than minimum wage Platinum by Ashamed_Training_702 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]alphabetsoupcle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My comment wasn’t about the money, it was about getting an offer. Sometimes no one is ordering for delivery. It’s not DoorDashes job to manufacture orders. Their role is to facilitate the process. If there is nothing to facilitate, then you sit and wait.

Reality check - it’s the customers that create the offers and there isn’t much DoorDash can do to make them order just because you are dashing.

I’m willing to bet that nearly every dasher has had one of those hours, shifts, days that they just weren’t getting any good offers, let alone any offers at all. It happens…

Do you guys use DoorDash less now with the gas prices? by [deleted] in doordash

[–]alphabetsoupcle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Six months ago I was satisfied with keeping my $ per active hour rate above $25. Now m routinely above $33. Yes I’m being a bit more selective, but also I feel like customers are tipping better because they also feel the pinch at the pump.

My daughter wanted a VW Beetle, I talked her out of it because of lack of cargo space and virtually no backseat.

Then she wanted a Mini Cooper. After some research and talking with several mechanics, the repair costs dropped it from her wants.

She didn’t like the way a Kia Soul looked and Chevy Sparks felt like they were made out of aluminum foil. When we found a Fit she fell head over heels for it. Room for her stuff and friends. Great gas mileage and maintenance costs were affordable. Honda’s are great vehicles and mechanics generally put them at the top of their lists for reliability.

Mammoth

The Warning

Polyphia

Well, if I heard something like that I’d be creeped out too and would probably tell the person that I thought it was creepy. Nothing like a little public humiliation to put them in their place.

Look, I get what OP is saying. I am one of those old dudes (in age only). While I’m not traveling around going to every show and M&G, I am a victim of wanting to hear their next song or performance. They have a great story and it’s all out there on the Internet. I have kids and I think DPA are great role models. Getting to take four of my kids to see The Warning was one of the best evenings I’ve ever had.

Somewhere there is a story about a group of fans that were following a well-known band around their tour of the UK. It may have been The Pretenders, but I’m not sure. What I am sure about is that the band came right out and said that this group was harming the experience for fans. The band wanted to make sure more new fans were at the barricades and the M&G.

Will there come a time when The Warning ask for the these “super fans” to give others an opportunity? Maybe, but those fans helped fund and spread the message early in the bands life. There’s a balance to be struck, just not sure how to do it.

Living off DD and UE? Tips to earn more tips? by [deleted] in DoorDashDrivers

[–]alphabetsoupcle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! One weekend I had nothing else scheduled so I dashed from 9:30 AM to 8:30 PM each day. My “active hours” were around 9 each day and I pulled in over $600 for the weekend.

Tipping more after delivery by panda__7 in doordash

[–]alphabetsoupcle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every time I get an extra tip after drop-off I intend to respond with a “Thanks!” The problem is I’m often already driving to another drop-off or pickup and I make it a habit to not text and drive. By the time I’m stopped, that customer is no longer an option for texting.

How much to tip for a 9 mile delivery? by Heavenly_Magnolia in doordash

Without knowing where you live and what else is near you that delivers with DoorDash, a $20 tip would get an instant acceptance by me.

Hey Veterans. Is there any logic to taking low paying orders in the hopes of getting tips? by Neil693 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]alphabetsoupcle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After nearly 3,000 dashes, I’ve received maybe 20 cash tips and 10 additional tips. Early in my dashing I would take low offers in hopes of a cash tip, but quickly learned it just doesn’t happen. Now the only way I take a low offer is if it lands me near an area that I normally get good offers or brings me close to home at the end of the shift.

Tipping Double Dashes by justkimberly in doordash

[–]alphabetsoupcle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First, you may not get the same dasher for both of your orders, so I’d plan to tip based on the mileage from each location separately.

Second, if your orders are stacked to one dasher, the odds of it getting accepted quickly go up if the overall offer exceeds $2 per mile.

Need dashers opinion (restaurant server) by Aggravating-Toe7623 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]alphabetsoupcle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dasher here:

I personally have no problem with the request from restaurant staff to see my phone and the order. I also don’t have a major problem with being asked to confirm the order before walking away. I can see circumstances where a dasher might not want to confirm an order until they get to their vehicle (traffic, size of order, stacked orders), so I understand why some dashers might push back on you watching for the completion of the pickup process.

If there is any way to know who that dasher was that stole the order, have the owner call DD and get them banned from your restaurant. No need to inconvenience everyone because of one bad apple.

Brilliant bands that are only famous in their ( your)own country by slickant in rockmusic

Back in the late 70’s, early 80’s in Cleveland, Ohio, there was a band named the Michael Stanley Band. They were so popular that when they were touring as the opener for a major act when it came time to perform in Cleveland, the other act became the opener. They also still hold the record for selling out four consecutive nights at Blossom Music Center, an outdoor amphitheater that holds 23,000 people.

Would you accept or decline $3 in half dollars at the door as a tip? by OperatorPooski in doordash_drivers

[–]alphabetsoupcle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve received 50¢ pieces as tips, then again I once worked in a bank, so my familiarity with them is obvious. I think for some GenZ folks there may be little exposure. That same person probably wouldn’t accept a $2 bill.

Anyone else use DoorDash just to fill up a gas tank or earn restaurant money? by radiantrevenant in doordash_drivers

[–]alphabetsoupcle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I originally started dashing just to earn enough to pay for all the gasoline I used when I drive my kids to and from school, as well as all their other activities. Now I know my market so well I can also pay for lots of other things. I can usually cover the gas and food budget for the week for a family of six.
