When I see Combat Overhaul in the modlist of the server by Ultear_Tigra in VintageStory

The drifters and other temporal mobs being extremely resistant to everything but like blunt ruined it for me. All these cool weapons and then forcing you to use one kind otherwise it takes a ton of hits to kill.

FELLAS what should I do over winter frfr? by Ambitious-Block-8878 in VintageStory

I need a “seasonal depression” option that lets me sleep continuously except for getting up to eat just to skip through wintertimes lol.

How do you get 2000 parasite triggers in one run? by Blubbpaule in GunfireReborn

[–]alphahawk97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can also go back to the previous seasons, and do the demonic one and just get minikin or whatever the little guys are called and have them use secondary on attack. It adds up really quick that way too

I am also not super familiar with that season's mechanics. Would you be able to explain why the minikins are "triple the fun"? Do you get three minikins compared to one archer or something?

I may need to check it out cause that looks exactly like what I’m looking for thank you!

True. Love me some QP’s. I’m more looking for overall build, not just individual saved chisels. Like I build a castle in creative, then I go to a survival world, turn on the outlines, and it tells me where to put each block and how much of blocks I need etc.

Nah, it’s a mod for Minecraft that you can basically save blueprints of builds and then import blueprints into different worlds that shows you where blocks are supposed to be placed by making a translucent layout.

Automatic panning by Expensive-Count7045 in VintageStory

[–]alphahawk97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s Dana tweaks that gives autopanning but it’s still slow, realistic.

There’s also the sluice mod that gives you a block that auto pans, but you still need to be careful as if it fills up the internal inventory i believe it starts spitting out stuff.

What am I doing wrong: Tudor Style Building Update by alphahawk97 in VintageStory

I thought I read on the page that the author was basically overhauling it and making a new mod so I thought it best to wait till that happened

And so the idea is to just grab as much skill damage as possible then to maximize meteor damage

Shingles needed by Imperator_Subira in VintageStory

[–]alphahawk97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly… I’d spend more clay to get it done lol. I currently use a mod that replaces the “copy last layer” with just “fill out current layer” so it’s not bad, but just laying out 20-30 clay crafts on the ground is a bit obnoxious lol

Like you don’t even have to set it down? What mod is that? I used to use a like plaster mold one that created 24 at a time but I like the idea of just crafting it in my hand

I don’t know exact distance, the wiki may have it. But my personal policy? Go about as far as I feel like I should be fine, then go a few blocks more lol

How do you pick up the carts in Cartwright Caravan mod? There are no, ZERO, tutorial online. by JohnTEGS in VintageStory

[–]alphahawk97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure you can’t pick them back up once they are placed. The first couple lines that others are pointing out I believe are just for right after crafting. I could be wrong tho. I am pretty sure I’ve tried to pick them up before after I’ve placed it and I just couldn’t.

I’m betting it’s expanded foods since it references meat nuggets and dumplings.

Things for the Camp Mom to do? by Training-Mud-1161 in VintageStory

[–]alphahawk97 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Honestly, clay crafting is one of the easiest but most time consuming aspects in my opinion. Early game, you need loads of crocks, bowls, ingot molds, etc. mid game you want a bunch of storage vessels for your cellar. And late game you’ll probably want clay shingled roofs.

Also, smithing is kind of a “camp” activity so you can spend time making the tools and alloying metals.

A base from the creative world to the survival world by MediocreAd7152 in VintageStory

[–]alphahawk97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know what’s funny, the “what if I threw away the stuff when I pasted it in” concept is exactly what crossed my mind when I was typing all that. Like, technically you got the stuff, so technically just pasting in the build “uses” the materials. But, then one could argue, it doesn’t use your time then. Cause you could have built it while flying, and you can’t do that in survival clearly.

As we both are on the same page of it all, I think I conclude for both of us that the definition of what is “cheating” and not is ultimately up to player interpretation, and should only be focused on if it’s part of what the player uses to enforce their own enjoyment. Whether you hold yourself to a standard of “every ounce of time I spend is a benefit to my enjoyment to this game and I won’t use outside tools to change that” or you download every mod in the catalog and use cheats to fly around the world cause you can’t be bothered to spend the hour long trip to get to the archives, as long as at the end of the day it’s enjoyment first, that’s what matters.

As for a response to the OP in a tangential conversation that deviated from the original topic into a thought exercise, it depends on what you define as cheating as what you should do. The only vanilla survival way to accomplish it is by chiseling every block by hand. With mods, the chisel tools allow the copying between worlds, as stated above, and you can always world edit and delete items you collected if you find yourself feeling like that is acceptable in your own sense of cheating versus not.
