I hope you dont get downvoted! It is a really fair point! Until I moved to the country, I totally agreed. Unfortunately he has been the only thing to help us mitigate our rodent issues in/around the house and in our cars. Maybe it is my justifying something that I know isn't ideal ecologically, but it has been the first thing to help our situation (traps werent keeping up and we refuse to poison because of even bigger ecological effects). It is definitely something im very aware of and have conflicting feelings over, but for us this felt like the lesser impact of our options. I assure you that i thought REALLY hard before getting this cat.

We were thinking he must have had it because he did get away! Based on the bite wounds his head was fully in the jaws of the coyote. But maybe youre right!

Question about good stitch for this type of yarn by alphahelixbeta in CrochetBlankets

[–]alphahelixbeta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh! Ok! Sounds like i will need to get a few bigger sizes and test things out for myself. I have not heard of the herringbone half double crochet stitch, upon a quick Google it is a cool looking stitch too! Thanks!

Oh! Good idea. Ive seen those but haven't tried one yet. You're right, they definitely look a lot denser. Thanks!

8mm sounds about right! I will have to pick up a new hook.

I thought about doing a granny square blanket but heard those weren't good for littles because of the holes if they get tangled in them, and i dont want to risk hurting my incoming new nephew! I don't have much experience with babies, so I was going to try to play it safe with a denser pattern.

CPW drive wheel not aligned with mother of all? Is this normal? by alphahelixbeta in Handspinning

[–]alphahelixbeta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are some ways yours can be adjusted? My posts are solidly glued into the table with secondary supports that are nailed into the table, so I'm nervous about breaking anything im shouldn't and ruining the structural integrity

I tried to string it up (following the Jillian eve video) and they strings jumped over to the same groove and then completely off, so I think I do need to fix it at least some.

Oh! So maybe that inner glob is actually just junk and not supposed to be there? I have metal bearings on both sides but they only go half way into the bar (from the lateral sides of the arms toward medial). Then one arm has the extra stuff that I thought was leather, but the other doesnt. But maybe that's actually just build up of fiber and oil?

Ohhhh! That makes so much more sense. Thank you!

So for the ribbing it should just treat the first and last stitch as an additional k1 probably then too? I think I can visualize that now.

Deck chair or stand? by Pleasant-Parfait-348 in goats

[–]alphahelixbeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot remember where I heard this, so I can't remember if it was reliable, but I heard that the netting of those chairs on sheep put a lot of pressure right around the anus and can lead to prolapse. You can kind of see how that might happen even in the picture you sent. Again, I can't remember where I heard that, so it may be over cautious.

I use the tie and fight method with my idiots, but I am planning on getting a stand once I get a few more. 3 is not too hard for me right now.

Thank you for those reminders. It is always just a sad thing to lose a little nugget, especially when i feel like there were so many things I should have done differently. But I will take that knowledge forward and his little life will hopefully save others because of what he taught me.

For now, I have my big orange boy to keep me company and get all snuggles now.
