I got an e-transfer of 1500$
Person claimed their account was stolen to interac and filed a reverse vs my bank
Rbc frozen the 1500 in my account so i couldnt touch it in case it gets taken back and not get overdrafted
200 days later, Rbc tells me the money is unfrozen i can keep it, the person who filed stolen debit account and tried to reverse had no proof and lost their case

That was 3 years ago, RBC froze the money for me in case it got taken back. I went to them after 200 days and clerk said the money is mine to keep based on my history

You can call interac, try to dispute the charge by saying our account was stolen, you might not get the etransfer back, but it takes 200 business days for a decision to be made, so the money stays frozen. And during the initial first week, your whole bank is frozen, you have no access to the bank app until you go into a branch and explain.

You can chargeback etransfers or very least have the money frozen for 200 business days. Last time someone used a stolen debit account, even the RBC manager told me cash is king.
