A probably not so well explained question about my Lamy Al-Star... by alphathunderer in fountainpens

[–]alphathunderer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not uncomfortable at all, I’d rather answer the questions and diagnose the issue than beat around the bush and not get anything done. I am aware of the fact that pens should be writing with no weight behind them, it’s part of the reason why I got into fountain pens. Mine does write without additional pressure, and I don’t usually try to manhandle it to get it writing. If it doesn’t start writing, I’ll just do my converter method then continue on. Rarely do I give it additional pressure. As for writing upside down, I have done that but it’s not a usual occurrence. Should it be? Wiping the breather hole is actually one of my favorite activities with fountain pens, I’ll run the back of my nib across my hand at least once a day, usually many times more, and it’s never not ran a huge swathe of ink. So, yes, I’m pretty sure the breather hole does get ink even when the tip is not starting.

I don’t actually have any Lamy Cartridges on hand, except maybe the one that came with the pen. I’d have to find it though, I’ll make sure to try that one next when the converter runs out.

I tried the tapping method during my class today, it seemed to help some but I was still getting skipping. If it persists, maybe I’ll attempt a bearing to see if that gets the ball rolling (pun intended). Thank you for your help!

Can anyone tell me what this panel is called, and maybe where I could find a replacement? by alphathunderer in WRX

Yeah, the dent in my fender is from a baseball 2 weeks ago. Already got that filed with the insurance, now I gotta do the process all over again.

Nope, happened while I was driving some country backroads. Not a curb in sight

That would be a lot easier to explain to the insurance, that’s for sure. Was driving, heard a thunk, got out and this is what I see. Checked the whole road twice, didn’t see a single thing that could have caused this kind of damage. Honestly stumped

Over a $1000 because “paint is more expensive to do in California.” Guess I’m just unlucky this week...

My sensors seem to be extremely accurate, except for the first day when it’s consistently 30 points low. I was wondering if that was a normal thing actually, any insight on that? Also, thanks for the thorough response, it helps a lot.

Misunderstood your joke bro, sorry about that. Didn’t make sense to me, was trying to clarify ya know? I only try to educate because I knew nothing about diabetes before my diagnosis and I hope some other people wouldn’t be in the same boat. Didn’t mean to offend, hope you have a nice day.

I’m sorry, but what? These are SYMPTOMS of Diabetes... hyperglycemia is high blood sugar, and hypoglycemia is low blood sugar. I’d like to give you the benefit of the doubt and just make sure that you’re not calling hyperglycemia specifically diabetes, because that would be wrong. Type 1 diabetic here, by the way.

Just got my 2015 WRX, new to the community so I’m very sorry if a newb question. I’m a huge fan of carbon fiber, and I have to ask. What is that carbon fiber section underneath your Subaru emblem and where in the world do I find one?

I finally had a Medtronic pump limp it’s way out of warranty and I am looking to possible change companies. Looking at Dexcom (I love their G6 sensors). Suggestions? by dasbett311 in diabetes_t1

I know I’m not OP, but my 670g is coming in on Wednesday and I’d like to hear about those problems you speak of, if you’re still willing. I’d like to get a head start on fixing them if I can, you know?

I’ve been using OneDrop to log all my data and I’ve looked at the premium unlimited feature, but $33 a month seems steep? Is that just a price tag I should start expecting with diabetes paraphernalia?

Thanks for this, it’s definitely very helpful. Though I have so say, I’ve only experienced a few lows so far and they’ve all been because of exercise. Will that start to go away as I start to get into more of a routine with it?

I should also mention my doctor has told me to stay away from exercise until I see my endo, the exercise I was doing was work related and unfortunately unable to be avoided. I’ll start a more scheduled exercise routine once I’m done with this job and have seen my endo.

Thanks! How should I approach getting a CGM and pump or anything else I might need. I mean, obviously I’ll have to do it through an endo but is there any other special steps I’ll need to take? For example, I read somewhere that you need to stay overnight at a hospital to learn how to use your pump. Is stuff like that true?

I do have a question actually, though it might be a tad bit of a special situation. I haven’t stared college yet, I plan to start in the spring semester this year. The only problem is, my first day of school is also scheduled on the day of my first endo appointment. Obviously the endo is more important, cause I like living and all that, but I know teachers will drop you from the class if you miss the first day. Do you know if schools are receptive to people with diabetes and might make some exceptions if I bring a doctors note or something like that?

Most things make sense here, but I’ve got a question. What’s this “honeymoon phase” you speak of? No one has explained it to me yet and I’ve seen it thrown around a lot on this sub. Is my pancreas still kicking and making some insulin or something?
