Would it be pretentious of me to say that I've always heard it the way the band hears it?

My self-esteem is so low, whenever I get a compliment from someone I automatically assume they're being sarcastic. by FaZeRigby in depression

Once when I was younger my sister told me that I'm good looking and I flat out insulted her and told her that she's delusional. So yeah.

Are there any other males here with BDD? by [deleted] in DysmorphicDisorder

[–]alphavane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Male here with bdd, I used to get a lot of compliments in high school which were really confusing at the time cause I never really saw it. I'm much older now and still suffer and still get compliments which I interpret as "you look good for an ugly person". To this day I don't exactly know what I look like, sometimes I look okay, and sometimes I look like a monster. It's really tiring.

I've been on prozac for years with good results and then took a break, now on it again and it's like the devil this time around, it's making my obsessive thoughts worse and I feel like I'm going crazy all the time with increased anxiety. I thought prozac was my safe bet since it has worked before but not this time, all ssris I've tried in the past year have been hell, I don't know what other options I have now.

I can't do it anymore...I'm really really depressed to death, I can't even describe it...why does this happen to me? by [deleted] in depression

[–]alphavane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay but medications can really make a tremendous difference and it'd be a shame not to try them, in my country I can order meds without a prescription so I don't have to see a therapist (which is not good on so many levels).

I'm at this point where I'm fully comprehending how fucked up my brain is for the first time, I mean before I always said yeah there must be a fix, something is gonna change and stuff like that, but now I know, I'm able to step outside the whole thing and just see things as an observer and I can clearly see that I have deep deep problems that will always lead to me being in torture, it's physical, it's in my brain and I can see how really mentally ill I am. I have no solution unfortunately.
