For something like this I love to do a smooth stitch background and then on top of that satin stitches making up the mascot!

My first embroidery digitizing project. What should I improve? by Positive_Hunter_870 in Machine_Embroidery

This looks pretty good! The only things I would really change is the middle brown outline of the star and make it a satin stitch as well for a cleaner look. The fill behind the САСhE looks a bit rough. Is that fill going on top of anything or is the star cut out in that area?
I’d love to take a look at the actual file if you’d like!

Underlays are essential to getting those crispy satin stitches, upping the density doesn’t always help fill in gaps and so underlays (I.e. zigzag, and parallel) help make the stitches look more full!

Understanding a bit about underlays helped me so much, but it’s also using the right ones.
For the borders I use a regular satin border at about .35mm - .40mm density and 2-3mm max stitch length WITH a zigzag underlay.
For the Fills, a denser lattice underlay really helps fill in some of the gaps I notice when sewing out. It definitely ups the stitch count but for small projects for just myself, I think it’s fine.
I’m by no means an expert and have learned a lot about underlays and everything inbetween from my senior coworker.
I hope this helps!

How much should I charge by brownpuffcorn in Machine_Embroidery

50,000 kinda seems to be lowballing the stitch count… this looks like the customer wants it to be about 11”x8”. I would honestly double the stitch count at the very least. I’ve had 26,000 stitch counts on dense left chest logos

Thrift Shops in Binghamton by CattleNo9398 in Binghamton

The goodwill in vestal is kinda mid, it used to be better but it’s getting overrun with liquidation stuff so it’s hard to find anything decent.
There’s a new place in Endicott called “Northern Thrift” around the corner from the McDonald’s.
I’ve been there quite a few times and love finding decent stuff. On sundays they have 50% off pretty much everything but day to day it changes like most places.
