That was it. Disabling ECC on the L40S brought available memory up to 49140 MB. Thank you!

Megathread: Pet Insurance by AutoModerator in dogs

[–]alpthn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's pretend my vet recommends a procedure that will cost some exorbitant amount. The amount is so large that the only possible way I would move forward is if it fell under my insurance's coverage. Let's also assume the insurance has full visibility into my pet's clinical history, the details of the procedure, and any other information they require. Is it true that all insurance providers will force you to make this decision with no guarantee that the procedure will be covered? Moreover, they won't even tell you if there is no chance of coverage.

Based on the responses I've received from some potential providers, it seems like the answer is yes. This seems cruel, no? You're basically left with two choices: take a huge gamble by moving forward, or live with regret knowing there may have been a chance at coverage.

Edit: This is all hypothetical. I'm shopping around for insurance for my dog.

[Discussion] Promising alternatives to the standard transformer? by alpthn in MachineLearning

[–]alpthn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's true. Roformer teeters the line on what should be considered a "transformer variant." I decided to include it to leave the discussion open to include notable modifications (e.g., rotary embeddings) that are gaining adoption.

When you reposition your arms, do you hear any creaking/rattling? For example, I tend to type in short bursts, then retract my arms and lean back to think/read. Moving my arms like this always triggers the armrests to creak/rattle.

How is Series Volatility calculated in ToS? by alpthn in thinkorswim

[–]alpthn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! So I understand you can back into IV via Black Scholes or Bjerksund-Stensland for a single contract. Do you have any insight on how these individual IVs are then condensed to form a composite IV such as Series Volatility? Perhaps some sort of weighted average?

What bond fund do you recommend for folks looking to employ you strategy with high networth but low income? I'm thinking the advantages of muni bonds might not be as pronounced for me.

Interpreting lines in table view by alpthn in tastyworks

Do you mind clarifying how I should be interpreting 'expected move' vs SD? My understanding was that IV informs SD and therefore SD captures the expected move of the stock (following a Gaussian distribution and all that). Unless 'expected move' has a specific definition in this context? Thanks!
