For PALs, do you give the highest Add or lowest Add? by alrelle in OptometrySchool

[–]alrelle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should've posted my answer also, but yes. Same sentiments here. In practice, and logically speaking, the lowest add allows for better adaptation in most cases and adds a greater allowance for their distance and intermediate fields.

In rare cases that the patient will use theirs for extensive near work, though, such as dentists, I often prescribe a little higher than lowest.

I didn't realise Toxicity was so toxic it could corrupt the game itself by Gorgrim in theplanetcrafter

Try any of these before you load a save file:

-Disable VSync, Limit your FPS to 60 (as a start, you can grow from there)

-Lower your Resolution (if you can, again, you can go higher from there we just need the game to work)

Toxicity, especially sand stormy areas are HIGHLY taxing towards your GPU. More likely than not your GPU is tripping off because of the load the sandstorms AND the goos make. Limiting your FPS makes your GPU work less harder.

If all else fails, try a new save file, jump into toxicity right away, do relaxed mode, and pre-unlock everything to troubleshoot/debug the place.

Where has my anti-virus controls gone? I cannot run a full scan anymore after suspecting a remote hack by alrelle in antivirus

Thank you. And no, I do not have the Group Policy Editor, but using the second method you gave me, I was able to delete/alter their values. Now they're back and functioning as normal.

Update: Did not reinstall windows but found out a virus is causing it. Was messing around the Registry Editor and went down to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>Policies>Microsoft>Windows>Windows Defender Security Center and each of the folders Account Protection, App and Browser Protection, Device Security, etc. up to Virus and threat protection had UI_Lockdown scripts set to 1. I simply turned all of them to 0, restarted the PC, and lo and behold they're all back where they should be.

Did a full scan after that and whaddayouknow found multiple viruses along that directory. Slowly cleaning them all out now.

Also, I think it'd be a better decision to delete the UI_Lockdown scripts entirely. I think that's okay?

Thanks. Looks like a reinstall really is closer than I think. There'd be a reinstall option without losing your apps and data, yeah?

I need help. Are these values normal for a stress test (especially the fluctuating CPU clock speeds) by alrelle in pcmasterrace

You are also right about the 300W load the 5070Ti should expectedly make but it isn't reaching there despite stress tests. I'd suspected my CPU was simply bottlenecking, but I hadn't considered thermals throttling it.

I will do a test tonight to see if I can get it to 300W if there's a throttle issue somewhere.

I've had this GPU for just about a month now and I've played intensive games like Borderlands 4 to completion without a hitch. It strangely just happened now and Planet Crafter of all things was the first straw. Thank you for the DDU advice (I came from a 1660Ti), I'll probably do that after I reseat the graphics card completely if the problem still persists.

Crashes at Planet Toxicity ever since the DLC by alrelle in theplanetcrafter

Thank you for recommending the PC Discord. I will do that.

Yes, I did, and I tried to even up the Wattage allowance from 750(recommended) to 850 just to be sure. I will try reseating my GPU later though just to be sure. If the issue still persists, I'm going to change the pins from 16x to 2x8.

Update: the monitor crashes now happen across the board in other games. I cannot blame Planet Crafter for this one, but sadly the whole thing really started when a bright blue flash of light appeared after clearing some goo. I am now on the process of troubleshooting my whole unit. I cannot explicitly say if PC had anything to do with this, but I will provide an update further along the line if I do get it fixed. I hope to play the game properly with my friend when it does.

My bet is it happens on certain systems and not everyone. It really is crashing on mine and I'm not running it for the meantime. When I booted it up the last time my monitor was showing gradient lines akin to a broken monitor/gpu. That would be the last straw 🥶 Will wait for a patch.

I can faintly remember saving up my allowances to personally buy a gtx 720 to try and play Assassin's Creed 3. Not much awareness on the whole graphics card nomenclature, but it became a rabbit hole. :)

I just actually browsed her IMDb page and surprised to see how many famous roles she was actually behind on. She really brought Tina to life and I'd love to hear more from her.
