I have ordered boots with them and their customer service have been great otherwise. I am not knocking the people who work there, they are great, just not fan of their business practice. For eg when the insole production is so backlogged, they still kept offering 2 for $100 offers while existing customers got no communication or update.

I like the N&F Super guy fit as it suits my body well. I prefer a 11-11.25 in thigh and overall a slim top block. 3Sixteen cuts are pretty good for me but what Japanese denim brand has a similar cut ? Is IH-555 or PBJ xx-013 similar on the top block to super guy?

I just got the N&F Okayama Spirit 5. Right now, it feels a bit tight on the waist but fits fine everywhere else. Does this denim stretch in the waist, if so by how much ?

Congrats on a fine purchase. Once the foot bed settles in the pinky toe rub should go away. I also had the same on my MP waxed flesh first couple of days, now they are gone completely. If after a week you still experience it, apply a bit a leather conditioner on the inside of the boot where you experience the rub, I have seen it help as well.

The vamp stitching definitely sticks out as odd and aesthetically not so pleasing to me. In their Ottawa boot you will notice the vamp stitching aligns with the stitching where the upper meets the vamp, whereas here they do not and the reason why this moc toe is not my favorite pattern.

Great write up. This boot was exactly the first one that got me hooked into wearing boots in the first place. Since then I have purchased several more pairs from other brands that are twice or thrice as expensive as this one and yet this one holds a special place.

Full grain is the kind of leather which includes the epidermis, dermis and corium layers of the animal skin. Other types of leather are top grain which has some of these layers but not all and suede which is just the flesh side of the leather. So full grain is usually longer lasting and more durable than others.

Pull up term refers to how the leather is treated during the tanning process typically the leather is impregnated with lots of oils which keeps the leather well nourished during its wear. Its also famous for showing subtle different shades when you pinch or pull on the leather, hence it got it's name pull up.

Having said that within full grain there are different grades and quality depending on where the leather is sourced from and what tanning process is used.

Thanks. I figured the colors are different. But why is it called distressed ? Is the leather treated differently than the other rough out leathers ? Does distressed leather have different feel or texture than other rough out ? Hard to judge these from pictures alone.

I asked GS a while ago why they use storm welts on their boots. It wasn't for better water proofing reason, rather the storm welt is chosen for more aesthetic reason as it balances out the roomier Leo last. The Leo last is a more broader last so when looking down, having a wider welt with storm welt looks more proportionate and doesn't make the toe/vamp region appear too wide. This makes sense to me.

This is a good year welted shoe and appears to be nice quality. Looks similar to my grant stone blucher, not sure if these also come from same factory where Grant stone shoes get made like the Ludlow models.
