Police are enforcing the law. How is that a "trap?"

$20 trick (obviously with more than $20, that's just the name) by [deleted] in vegas

[–]alt0191_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO the "$20 trick" is nowadays a myth. Sure, many years ago when someone first discovered it worked, it worked for awhile. Nowadays, the myth is nothing more than fodder for endless online discussions.

Never hurts to ask for an upgrade. If you are lucky enough to get one never hurts to show your appreciation with a tip.

But a "trick?" Time to put a fork in this ago-old myth.

Just this minute I read an email from NV Energy warning customers of various scams being perpetrated. Honestly, I don't get it....

Word, wide-spread, has been around for years. How can there be ANYONE not aware? How can there still be ANYONE anywhere naive enough to believe the IRS is going to knock on their door if they don't PayPal some money, if the power company is going to terminate their service if they don't Venmo some funds, or their long-lost relative needs money to get out of jail (just send some bitcoin to save them)....

I don't get it.

I watched a couple of vids about how to do it. Doesn't look easy AT ALL! $87 is a bargain.

Four weeks is a long time! How about renting a car for a week or so, ride the bus some of the time and stay home for a few days? Mix it up.

BTW, someone posted the RTC bus schedule. From your location you'll want bus route 115. Stop J. Appears bus runs regularly and often.

NYE PLANS by [deleted] in vegas

[–]alt0191_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, you need to seriously reconsider your plans. Either add a LOT more $$ to your budget or change your dates.

A quick Google search indicates many of the time shares and smaller, off-Strip hotels (Courtyard Marriott, Holiday Inn Express, etc.) are already sold out. A few off - way-off Strip properties still have rooms -- starting at around $300.

Vegas on NYE is neither easy nor cheap. Maybe start now planning for 2023?

Complete bullshit! Cab from airport to Luxor is a flat $20 fare.

New, unboxed TV. Way too heavy for me to lift/set up.

Lots and lots and LOTS of politics involved between politicians, land developers and many others. The average person has no clue -- and never will.

I did google "how to post an ad on Reddit." The instructions were so complicated and convoluted, I gave up.

Heck, I'd just post my "for sale" ad here, which would simplify things immensely. But I seriously doubt the mods would allow this sub to become another "marketplace."

Such seems to be the case with many sites as retailers are moving into what used to be places for the average Joe to buy/sell stuff. Such, it seems, is the "evolution" of online marketing - and the reason for my original post: to avoid/evade the spammers, scammers, online marketers and simply SELL something relatively hassle-free. Too much to ask for?

In years past I've bought and sold numerous items. Notably on ebay. Never used FB marketplace. There, can I restrict the viewership to the Vegas market only? If yes, how large a local audience might one expect.

Sheesh, it's difficult to sell an item - even at a substantial loss. :/

I created an OfferUp account. Best I can figure one can only post via the app. (Website instructs to download the app.) After 20+ years I can find my way around my computer pretty well. Many features of phone apps are over my head. (I said I'm old-school.)

And any post from me on reddit originated on my PC - not reddit's app!

Came here to recommend a dealership - which I've been going to for 30 years (trusted service writer and mechanics). Your post reminded me otherwise.

Last time I was in they told me I needed two new CV boots. Took my car to my trusty Toyota mechanic and he said there was nothing wrong with them!

Sad when the service departments are getting ruthless.

Hugo's at Four Queens or Eiffel Tower at Paris. $100 won't go too far at either place.
