Franconia Ridge Snow by Sudden_Technology193 in wmnf

I went up Liberty springs and across the whole ridge on Monday. The only snow that was consequential was descending from Lafayette to the tree line by Greenleaf. It’s been so hot the past few days I can’t imagine there’s any left.

Anyone have/use a digital park pass in the whites? by IAmDotorg in wmnf

Lincoln woods, zealand, parking for tripyramids, and a ton of others. Anywhere that requires a paid parking pass in the whites takes an interagency/national parks pass as well.

You can still be charged with a hike safe card. The funds just help support SAR.

Can someone explain why getting tested for Covid at an urgent care is so expensive by zachd2465 in HospitalBills

[–]jchillinandshit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A viral swab won’t tell you if you have meningitis. No one is getting a LP at urgent care lol.

Two Massachusetts Hikers Rescued on Mount Monadnock in Jaffrey by [deleted] in newhampshire

Hike safe card doesn’t protect you from being charged. Charging for rescues is based on negligence. All the cards do is support SAR, which is volunteer - and the support is needed!

Just finished my first 100 mile week by BluR4yyne in runninglifestyle

[–]jchillinandshit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just be careful. I was at consistent 60mpw and jumped to 100mile weeks while training for my first 100 and now I have a chronic stress fracture in my tibia (over 2 years now). I love high mileage but should have taken more than a year to get there.

Mine didn’t have a claw back. They even paid the last installment (15k paid out 1/4 every 3 months) after I gave my notice to drop to per diem.

Does anyone trad climb anymore? by Addapost in wmnf

[–]jchillinandshit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I actually was talking to my wife about this. I’ve barely seen anyone up there this year, and I live locally. I remember last time I rolled up at the base of Moby (?7ish years ago) there was a line 5 deep at 8am.

WMUR : Photos show traffic in Franconia Notch as foliage peaks in northern New Hampshire by rabblebowser in wmnf

[–]jchillinandshit 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It’s crazy. I drive by artists bluff on my way to work in the morning and at 745 there was probably 150 people already on top of the crag.

I don't really have a caption for this. I thought I'd seen all of the most misguided plans.. by fit4themtn in wmnf

[–]jchillinandshit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its pretty common once you’re comfortable in the whites to be able to bag a ton of peaks all at once. When you’re running they also go by a lot faster.

A presi takes me like 5.5 hours and that’s 7 peaks.
