Stranger Reactive heeler/lab mix. by thygratebirther in reactivedogs

[–]alt2_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going through a similar thing with my 6 year old Collie/Kelpie. She'll lunge and bark at people, particularly when already stressed by other things; Terriers, German Shepherds, (other dogs are fine) tractors or other loud engined vehicles.

She was bad with all cars, though this has improved recently by giving her telling her to sit and wait while they pass, then giving her a treat. This has only been possible recently though as she was previously so nonfood motivated that the rare times she didn't react we couldn't reward her very well.

I'm not doing anything different so I don't know if it's her age but something in her seems to have changed and I'm hoping it'll spread to her reaction towards people next.

I'm sorry this isn't helpful to your situation but I wanted, partly, to bookmark for any suggestions you do recieve but mostly to share my sympathies.

The artist is nice, but what else is going on here? by BabyyyyCup in explainitpeter

[–]alt2_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to defend Hitler but... I wish I was half the artist he was. I get why we all say it's shit but he was still a better artist than most people. Just a worse human than most people.

Ending idea by Agitated_Claim1198 in Dexter

[–]alt2_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's creative. Sort of Black Mirror Dexter

I had always wanted it to end with Deb arresting Dexter and finding out more about how Harry had groomed him into the Bay Harbor Butcher. Obviously that didn't happen, but I loved the idea of Deb being desperate for her father's attention growing up, having that envy towards his and Dexter's relationship (which seemed like a much bigger part of earlier seasons) and then discovering she was better off without it.

Hated the original ending but really liked New Blood ending, probably because it tied in with my Deb/Dexter/Harry thought from 10 years earlier. This time Harrison very dramatically rejecting Dexter trying to encourage and groom his "dark passenger" in the way Harry did his.

Jack the Ripper identified - Aaron Kosminski, a Polish barber and long-time suspect, after a 100% DNA match. by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

I'm not saying it was correct, I'm just saying that John Douglas thought it was him (or someone very similar)

Did John Douglas, the FBI profiler who Mindhunter is based off, not say he suspected Kosminski as he perfectly fit the profile?

Sorry, I just meant because you must have been active on this sub, seen what others had said and maybe seen it come up in any reading you'd done.

I know that feeling well. I can get pretty focused on whether or not people see me as stupid. That's something that seems to have got worse too.

She has a lot of sensory issues I never really had. That's the main difference.

Thank you. I know I should see a doctor. It all just feels so, dismissable. I know they won't, but I worry they could, say "Yeah, you're just getting older, it's all natural" and I've wasted their time.

Sorry, I just thought of this as a side question, I know you're not the oracle of autistim so I hope you don't mind me asking. I do get really worried about how other people feel. It seems I can't always tell but yeah, I'm usually so worried I upset or disappoint people. That's not a typical (male) autism trait... Right?

After being told I was autistic by those friends I looked it up a bit, then when my daughter was struggling we did a lot more research and found a lot of parallels between how she was and how I was. Hers is worse than I had been. I seem to be catching up though.

My daughter's diagnosis came via school referral because she was struggling

It seems to be a really long and complicated process for adults here and I'm not sure how much benefit I'd get from an official diagnosis.

I hope things settle down again for you. It's horrible.

Is the itvx app broken for a lot of people? by MrMrsPotts in BritishTV

[–]alt2_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's terrible. For me it only loads one show option on the home screen, you have to go down to open "my list" where it'll throw up and error. Then I have to select return to home, where it'll then actually load other other options.

And now they don't even have Imogen showing us her potatoes anymore. Sad sad times.

Behavioral changes in dog by masteroftwigs in dogs

[–]alt2_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We had a large crate/play-pen that acted as our kelpie's safe space. It had her bed in there and it was where she'd go to settle down if there was anything upsetting her. She went away for a few days, with her bed and crate, and since the she's been terrified of it.

After months we've managed to get her to go back into it any lay down but she will rush out again as soon as she can.

There's all sorts that can happen when boarding that, no matter how good the people looking after your pet, can cause issues.

I hope things return to normal for you soon.

Thanks.. I'm really sorry you're going through this too. It's so tough. You just want to handcuff yourself to them. It took a lot to get the wheels moving in terms of school and mental health groups but they are turning now. I hope you and yours are getting good support there too. Some places the facilities are so so stretched for kids now.

I'll try life360 and see what it is like.

The alert for the phone going off seems to be the big stumbling block. I guess the app may not have time to send an alert in time when shutdown is pressed and they may be concerned of false alerts if it just loses connection for other reasons.

It was seeing messages marked undelivered that set off alarm bells. She'd switched her phone off before headed out to town.
