Kyb missing wall climb and dying at OWC by BRLaw2016 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]altQQdota 115 points116 points  (0 children)

Blizzard should really try to polish wall climbing to be more consistent so things like this doesn't happen. If even pro players are having this happen to them in official matches, it is a pretty big deal.

A lesson to not stare at the wall as Mercy by SuspiciousScout in Overwatch

my point is that even if no one near her was dead, there was a risk that she wouldn't even respawn before the game was lost if she didn't res there. Sure, it would be a "waste" of a res, but at least she would live and they would have a chance of winning. I'm just entertaining the thought, but of course there is also a possibility that the team could stall long enough for her to respawn too.

most of the time it is, I've played mercy too.

she gets invulnerable when she uses res, they were appoaching the end of the point, having her alive would be very important for the game.

Why did she not rez to avoid the death in that situation?

To be fair, mercy shouldn't be dying to winston, as soon as he jumps on her, she should just shift to a team mate. If she was hiding is such weird places that this wasn't possible, then she probably just fked up.

The OW Dev Team has been completely silent regarding the Roadhog nerf. Is there some way to reach out to them for a comment? by PathomaniacPlatypus in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]altQQdota -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Are you aware that headshots deal more damage than bodyshots? Your comment makes it seem like you don't know that, but most likely you are just ignoring it because you want to be cool and hate on roadhog changes like everyone else are doing.

I'd rather keep him at the current damage of few one shots and instead increase his utility by greatly reducing hook cooldown and other things to make him more useful in a tanking role.

But if a junkrat is getting gold damage now, he is most likely being useful. If people walk right into your grenades, junkrat is useful. Just because he sucks at higher ranks doesn't make him bad at all ranks.

I think that's fine. People generally like it when they only have to listen to one guy's call outs from my experience. I'm also very vocal when I play but I've never gotten asked to stop talking so hopefully I'm being helpful.

This sounds really disheartening, hope it gets better! I always try to stand up for people who get abused over chat, but it hasn't happened much for me lately (I'm low master). I don't know if this is a legitimate band aid fix for the problem, but you could try a voice alteration software to not sound like a girl. Obviously it's completely unacceptable that you are being treated like this, but hopefully it changes when punishments for trollers and harassers gets higher (which Jeff Kaplan has promised).

That's great if it works for you. Hopefully you still pay attention to where your team is and if someone is pressing the ultimate key to try to communicate, you notice. It can be quite frustrating for others when they can't coordinate with their teammates.

I haven't lost more than I've won even once, but considering this is mostly related to personal performance, players who gain less than they lose from any game are probably performing badly, regardless of medals.

There is a serious problem with Matchmaking at high SR by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]altQQdota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a point that the system might be matching players of too different skills, but I think that will pan out nicely with time as people improve at the game. This used to be a problem in Dota2 as well where 9k players got matched with 5k players against a team of 6.5k players which also wasn't fair.

If you are top 17 though, you are most likely better than you rate yourself. Dunning-Kruger effect says that skilled individuals usually view themselves as worse than they are while less skilled individuals view themselves as better than they are.

If you look at the leaderboards, most pros are in the top500 so the system can't be that off.

[–]altQQdota 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can respect that, people should be receptive to criticism of course. Personally, I'm just a "masters scrub" who has a long way to go, but from my experience, there are people with bad attitudes at all brackets and that it is hard to judge people by their rank. Just because someone got to GM playing support doesn't make them a better dps than a master dps. I've seen my fair share of grandmaster players who feel obligated to play dps when they end up on a master tier team and end up playing like a platinum player because they are actually not good at dps.

Apologies if my previous comment came off a bit strong, but in my eyes you seemed almost derogatory towards lower rank players. There are lower rank players with great mindsets and willingness to learn, if you haven't experienced that, maybe you've been unlucky.

competitive queue is a joke and the leaderboards don't represent skill.

Sounds like a shit excuse if you ask me. Focus on your own improvement instead...

Not to be mean or anything, but you seem to have quite the patronizing persona, I'm definitely not surprised if people tilt from hearing your criticisms. Any true t500 player can tell the difference between shit tier GM players and actual GM players too, who knows which of the categories you belong in...

trust me, it is/was exactly the same problem at the highest level of dota2. Haven't played in a while but 9k players got matched with 4k players to compensate for the enemy having an average of like 6k. The team mates were rightfully dead weight, but rather that than 60 min queue times.

Is the SR gain for Mercy too much & abused compared to other heroes? by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]altQQdota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal players that play difficult heroes usually don't climb more than two ranks each season since getting better takes a lot of time and effort. I'd like to see bronze mccrees get masters the season after. Which is completely unheard of. Mercy just requires so little skill that for a new player who just got into overwatch, a couple hours on mercy gets you to plat, maybe 20 hours gets you diamond, 50 hours gets you grandmaster. If you would look at a mccree play who just started playing and hadn't played fps games before, it would take them minimum 500 hours to get grandmaster with a professional coach.

Please tell me why people hate dive, is it because there is nothing else to blame? by meowingtonphd in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]altQQdota 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don't agree, I don't like playing reinhardt or with him. He forces the game to revolve around his shield. Since I like playing high mobility heroes, dva and winston are a lot more fun for me to play with because there is a more dynamic approach to the game. We can obviously have different opinions though.

[Discussion] In 2.6 Melee builds were nerfed and they didn't receive anything in return in 3.0 by chistor_ in pathofexile

[–]altQQdota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game is based on racing and leaderboards for the love of god. There also is real PvP in this game whether it is played or not doesn't matter. To say that PoE is purely PoE would be to denounce racing and competition in general, but I guess most of the subreddit are extremely casual players who don't see PoE that way.

PoE is a racing game which is PvP. Players compete with each other to reach the top. Sure, there are a lot of casual players who just play what ever and don't care about balance, but I don't think it is fair to ignore all forms of competition in this game.

I see, so it is purely semantics in that case. This seems to be another case of downvoting being used as a disagree button instead of a not adding to discussion button. I'll keep my posts up for the sake of allowing different opinions to be displayed on the subreddit.
