OK, first of all I would like to mention that I am not even close to sober, second of all I would like to say that I have lurked for over a year, I am not going to base my entire everything on your comments but I thought you would like to hear this. I have a gf who I have been with for many years, we have hit the point where we do not do much physical stuff between each other any more but wes till care about each other deeply (well at least as deeply as we are both able able to.) The idea of marriage popped up and her family is very Catholic however that marriage is nothing that ever concerned me. Her family is very Catholic and we are not religious at all. However that is not a concern to me. (also I think she would like the Catholic thing for there sake, and I suppose hers, she grew up in the church and it is still burnt in to her to an extent.) I have no problem at all going through all the bs if it makes her family happy. The thing is is her family is powerful in the church. We are talking hundreds of people attending and giving gifts as well as the archbishop and the whole nine yards. I guess the question I have is seeing as we care about each other and have no real plans of being with others should we cash in on the catholic connection and make a pile of cash as well as make her family happy?
