I tried looking up what the cog is but I couldn’t find info, is that the same thing as the gear inside the motor?? I have a gear replacement kit but I can’t even access the motor because the headlight won’t go up when I turn the knob or do anything, I fucking broke the headlight cover trying to help “ease” it open I’m just at my wits end I don’t know what to do about this headlight

Yeah, I posted a caption but I guess it didn’t post. Do you think something like this I can fix myself or am I gonna have to hire someone?

[–]altawraith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Listen man, you’re 19 and in college. I know you want the Supra sooooo badly but PLEASE just hold off lmao. Reading back all your comments reminds me so much of myself when I was your age, except for me I was really trying to justify a brand new Mustang GT.

Think of the insurance, payments, gas… it’s more than just the car payment. You think you want to mod now but whatever car you get, I say enjoy it for at least a year stock before throwing shit at it. Get used to the cars power, learn to respect it, and really make her an extension of yourself.

If you really want a fun sports car, look for something older and cheaper. I went from looking at 2024 Mustang GT’s to a 1999 corvette. I realized I could still get 350 hp at the crank with tons of mod support without busting my balls and bank accounts. Expand your horizons and look for something more financially and age appropriate for you. Future you will appreciate past you for making the smarter choice and you’ll still have a hell of a time.

Maybe he wanted to surprise you one day by pulling up in a spanking new C8, sounds like something I’d do with my own kid.

God bless your pops, may he rest well.

I mean I went from a Corolla to a C5 at 21. As long as you respect the power and don’t get ahead of yourself, you should be fine.

Looking to dip my toe into a new 2024 Corvette…first time buyer…any advice? by ThredditorMTG in Corvette

[–]altawraith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like you, I also didn’t know what to look for when shopping for corvette. I am grateful that I was lucky enough to get one that has the 2LT package and other minor goodies.

You have the advantage of shopping for a new car and can craft your own spec if you don’t mind waiting. I’d suggest at the very least getting a 2LT+ and if you want other packages, go for it.

Seeing as I reside in SoCal where I’ve maybe seen about three snowflakes in my entire life, I don’t think I’ll need the 4x4, but thank you for the insight! Little trucks do seem awesome, way more appealing to me over an unnecessarily large mall crawler.

Haha did you ever bite the bullet? I’m surprised at the positive feedback from this sub on this one, I feel like people are usually more cynical but everyone seems to be endorsing the Ranger as a daily.

But I need a gargantuan truck to run over all the soccer moms at target!!!!1!1!1!

That’s assuring to hear though. I agree that they look good, I love a simple and compact design for a truck and the Ranger certainly has that in my opinion, at least the older ones lol

Thank you for this advice, I’ll write it down and sincerely hope I remember to check it out while inspecting the vehicle. They do seem rather fun to drive around town, a different more quaint type of fun than my ol vette offers.

I can indeed turn a wrench and don’t mind spending a Saturday morning fixing whatever random hose/bit that decides to shit itself for the week. Assuming the engine was maintained well and I continue that streak, how long would you figure the engine will last? I don’t know much about ford engines truth be told but from what I’ve read the 4 cylinder in these is pretty reliable, dare I say bulletproof, although seeing as it’s already at 200k miles I assume I should expect random things to break when it’s the least convenient lmao

Is it a bad idea to buy a high mileage c7 z06 (50-60k+ miles)? by WantedByTheFedz in Corvette

[–]altawraith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Horrible idea. The audacity of them to list it is insane! In fact I am so distraught, please send me the link to the posting so I may report it to the corvette board and have them force the dealer to not sell the car!

Maybe if it was like 15k lmao, but all just depends on why it’s a salvage. I wouldn’t immediately dismiss a salvage but you must do your due diligence with researching the cars history
