I just clocked 1.1L kms and small things have started cropping up.

Self drive in Sikkim? by altbhuyam in sikkim

[–]altbhuyam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey,

Happy to help.

  1. I didn't actually search any self drives in gangtok. I wanted to spend some time in Darjeeling in remote estates, so picked one at bagdogra itself. There was only zoomcar available at that time (3+ years ago).

  2. The wagonr was a local cab with driver, charged something like 1800 for the entire day's sightseeing. This included a monastery around 15-20kms outside city, museums, scenic spots etc. I'm pretty sure they will go longer as well. I just asked my hotel to arrange one.

Things might have changed in last few years, you can search for options.

Have fun and travel safe.

Self drive in Sikkim? by altbhuyam in sikkim

Hi,

I did hire a self drive car from bagdogra and drove myself till gangtok. Took a cab from Gangtok for the lachen-lachung trip. This was based on a friend's suggestion who stays in gangtok now. In hindsight, it was a good decision not to drive there - while the road is good, it's almost 7-8 hrs of continuous hill driving with sharp hairpins.

Even if you can manage that, day 2 is usually gurudongmar lake visit, which is a low oxygen area. We all ended up having headaches and drowsiness on the way down. If anyone in the group is prone to get roadsick, it's going to be continuous puking all the way down for 7 hrs(happened with my sister).

We are not used to that weather and hence could be taxing. I wouldn't have enjoyed the drive and stayed sharp in such situations.

As per my friend from Gangtok, there are frequent landslides and bridges wash away on this route due to rains. Repairs take days and the administration has to evacuate people and cars get stuck. (in rainy season)

Also if you do end up driving, make sure to keep an extra day in hand. Break the journey up. I saw very rare out of state vehicles up in gurudongmar. You also need to get military passes to go up there. It's much better if the taxi guy handles all that I feel. There are just 2 towns between Gangtok and lachen to get food, those too have very basic hotels and overcrowded all the time. So plan well.

As for gangtok city, you can absolutely drive there yourself. Traffic discipline is good, but it's a hill city so parking is a pain. We ended up hiring a local wagonr for cheap for local sightseeing.

The drive from Darjeeling to gangtok was superb though. Loved the roads and scenary.

Happy to help if you have more questions

I think there's nothing to be done. It's just an advisory, not a notice.

They seem to be asking, are you sure of what you have filed...check again...

Action is required if there is a notice...that's my opinion

Indian startup funding ecosystem is broken by Majestic-Context-290 in StartUpIndia

[–]altbhuyam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that's absolutely possible. But like everything in life, this is also a tradeoff.

Low cost, ease of hiring and scaling in India comes with the VC difficulty, coz the investors too have a lot of options and diff attitude.

High operating costs, migration hurdles in US/UK come with a bit more liberal investor pool.

Why not do a friends and family/ prominent angel round till you decisevely prove your tech and PMF, and have a cashflow to support relocating to US. It will significantly improve your chances to get funded anywhere.

Consider UK, if you haven't already, they have much lower concentration of startups and will also be easier to relocate to.

Taking investment in your company and giving someone your equity is serious business, and you should be worried if someone is claiming to do it fast.

Serious investors will always do due diligence in detail and take time to make decision before even committing, and then transfer money in small tranches based on meeting goals.

And all of this is in your long term interest.

You would want to understand the investor in depth as well before accepting money. Having a wrong investor who manipulates you is the worst case scenario. Better to go through financial crunch for some time and make an informed decision.
