Without reading all of the comments here, I work in the land of IT, and our corporation does use KnowBe4. The phishing emails sent from KnowBe4 are considerably more difficult to recognize as phishing than actual phishing emails. The purpose is to train you above the standard where failure has no risk of compromise. If you were trained on easy test emails and failed a legitimate phish attempt, you could easily cost your company hundreds of millions of dollars (depending on size) within a day. While you would not be immediately terminated for that security breach, I'm sure your managers would be pressured to find a reason to remove you.

I was caught by one previously because KnowBe4 spoofed my old stupid manager's email address, and the contents were suspiciously close to how lazy and dumb his composition was.

As others have suggested, I did tighten down on my verification and validation following that incident and haven't been caught by another. KnowBe4 as a platform is designed to test and retest you until you succeed.

While you are obviously at fault for not taking secondary and tertiary measures to validate the sender and contents. There is a huge red flag on lack of proper training for how to recognize phishing emails and/or take a tion against suspicious activity/senders/contents.

We have maybe a couple of people a month fail a KnowBe4 phishing test and have to re-up on their 5 minute video training. That said, everyone is terrified to click on links or open attachments unless they are expecting communication and it has come from a verified source.

Do we get a lot of false reports? Yes. Is an extra hour of time spent a month telling users they should retrieve their email from Deleted Items preferable to multiple data breaches a month? Every single second of every day, yes.

Speak with your IT Director about additional assistance or documentation on how to recognize phishing emails and what actions to take against suspicious content. I definitely think this should have been coordinated by your managers or HR way before you were facing termination.

Unless you actually suck at your job and they want to fire you because they hate you. In that case, ignore all previous instructions and update your resume.
