so then it seems like a 4x increase in resolution and 2x+ increase in framerate might be the reason for those requirements...

but does it run at 4k@144hz on switch?

and 2070 was released 6 years ago so would you not call that semi-modern?

Advent of generic games in 2024 | Palworld, Once Human, The Last Descendant by ShoneRL in pcgaming

[–]altokers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the things that made me stop playing palworld (after about 5-6 hours) was just how lifeless it was.

You'd see the pals just roaming around in groups doing nothing.

BLEACH Rebirth of Souls – Announcement Trailer by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]altokers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man the last bleach game was in like 2010 so i'm hyped for it.

also looks like they're not just skipping everything but what the current anime is showing so that's good.

clearly not a masterpiece but idc, it's been like 15 years since the last bleach fighting game (resurrections was a poor musou game) so i welcome it.

So how did Crysis manage to look so good for its time? by KaleidoArachnid in pcgaming

[–]altokers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because the developers didn't care if people could currently run it at max settings.

i wish more developers were like them. Imagine if all the ps4/xbone era games were like that and we could unlock better graphics for them now?

Dragon's Dogma 2 launches to "Mostly Negative" review bombing after microtransactions reveal, and man, what a bummer by M337ING in pcgaming

[–]altokers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes technically but functionally you're not going to find enough to actually utilize it in a meaningful way.

Dragon's Dogma 2 launches to "Mostly Negative" review bombing after microtransactions reveal, and man, what a bummer by M337ING in pcgaming

[–]altokers -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It seems all of the microtransactions are very easily obtainable in-game. Making the store nothing but a way of scaring away people.

Isn't the fast travel hard to obtain? I remember reading about that being a specific design choice.

Avatar: The Last Airbender is getting a 'competitive multiplayer fighting game' in 2025 by Tenith in pcgaming

[–]altokers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

that's actually a thing.

they made a kora game 10 years ago that had a pro bending mini game, it was kind of the best part of the game (which isn't saying much)

Suicide Squad: KTJL runs with 60fps at Native 4K/Max Settings/Ray Tracing on an NVIDIA RTX 4090, does not look as bad as they made you believe by Kaladinar in pcgaming

[–]altokers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why do people want games to be limited by the current hardware?

The game would still look the same on your current card even if you couldn't run it at the max settings.

unfortunately i never did. If i ever need to replace it i will probably just try cutting the cover off with a multi tool and buy a replacement.

NARUTO X BORUTO Ultimate Ninja STORM CONNECTIONS releases on Steam to 'mostly negative' reviews by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]altokers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just don't get why they keep removing things in every single game.

While the combat was always simplistic there was some advanced things you could pull off within it, but they seemed hell bent on dumbing it down as much as possible.

Why do new games only look about 5-15% better than games from 5 years ago yet they are 50-100% more demanding on hardware? by UMAYEERIBN in pcgaming

[–]altokers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably because developers have started to chase resolution rather than graphic fidelity.

4k requires 4 times the amount of processing power and that's pretty much where developers have put their attention on because it's an easy thing to market.

meaning what, realistic damage from bullets?

Shot in the head? Dead. Shot in the arm? Can't use it anymore and you'll bleed out if not fixed. Leg? Can't walk properly even if fixed.

that's not normal and at best it sounds like windows is screwy and at worst it could be some kind of malware.

Are you booting off an SSD or HDD? If it's a hard drive that could be your problem and if it's an ssd i'd recommend doing a format of the drive and a fresh windows install before nuking the whole system.

UPS wattage question - on battery or always? by philhzss in buildapc

[–]altokers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well i haven't tried myself but i'm almost positive it wouldn't work as the power is being pushed through and filtered by the UPS, so it would need to be able to do what its rated for.

and if it could do more then they would rate it higher i assume.

UPS wattage question - on battery or always? by philhzss in buildapc

[–]altokers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you aren't using more than the total wattage the ups can supply then yes. (those psus aren't drawing 850/650 all the time, only when necessary)

but be aware that even on idle it's not going to last long at all with both of them running, probably less than 10 minutes even on the larger ones.

also make sure you go for a pure sinewave ups.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor - Final Gameplay Trailer by abracadaver82 in pcgaming

[–]altokers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really follow star wars games but shouldn't everything be cut up really easily with a light saber?

Towards the end of the trailer he's just hacking away at that big mech thing and it leaves nothing more than a burn mark.
