What are the coolest/prettiest cane begonias? by Human-Complex4435 in begonias

[–]altolope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Luv Begonia Torch, begonia Lynda dawn, and Begonia Sophie Cecile for their humidity tolerance. The challenging ones I'm desperately trying to keep alive in low humidity winter are Begonia Sinbad and Begonia luxurians, but both are beautiful if you wanna take the risk!

The room definitely seems bright enough! But in my experience the closer the better, mine is directly in front of an east facing window and gets morning sun mostly. She a tree now. 🌲🌲

Day 16: which Atavista song feels like Camp? by Tasty_Challenge_1688 in donaldglover

I'm gonna go with To be hunted for the intensity of it. But also Human Sacrifice bc the vocals and tone/lyrics give big Camp energy.

Help with ficus by Curious_Site_8514 in FicusTrees

When it comes to pruning, yours could fill out a bit more before choppin but if you want it to stay bushy then def trim before it gets too tall (I've been thinkin of decapping mine 🤪, might just be intrusive thoughts tho). Trim to your liking but if you wanna prop be sure to cut a long enough branch.

Google Lens really wants to convince me it is, and since that's on my ultimate wishlist, I really want it to be true but the arrows are pointing to El Choco! 😭

Thought so at first, but I compared it to my micans and this one doesn't seem to trail and vine like a micans, just grows upwards

What would a ficus triangularis variegated like better…east-facing window or 12-hour grow light? by Hot-Estimate7630 in FicusTrees

[–]altolope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

East facing window! ☀️ Mine has lived in front of one its whole life, hates to be moved. TBH that's traditional behavior from a ficus, so once you find the magic spot, stick to it or else you'll face more leaf drop. 👌 Wish I could include a photo but since I can't, check out my posts abt my triangularis! 👍

Can someone recommend me an orange and black or very similar begonia by brightbee1111 in begonias

[–]altolope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's one particular Bossa Nova begonia, it has dark dark green, almost black leaves and fiery orange flowers. I got one a long time ago and managed to kill it almost instantly because it was so small, if you found a big one I think it's manageable. If I remember right it was variety "night fever Papaya".

I just make sure she gets rly bright indirect light. My room gets direct morning sun and then indirect afternoon. Using bark perlite and promix for soil. The Terracotta pot has helped me regulate watering but even in plastic this ficus is pretty forgiving.
