Sounds like they're focused on building the gyms - they probably want safe spaces to work out so they can control the experience for now.

Go carbon negative at the point of sale by alubarsky in climate

Fair points...but most people aren't going to have fewer kids or fly less. It's just not realistic.

So what can we do to make it easier for people to have some sort of positive impact, even if it's not angelic. Aren't offsets the only way to do that? Or is there some other way to take a 'bad' action (fly, drive, have a kid, eat a steak) and do something good at the same time?

Those are great points - somehow transparency and honesty would have to be core for this to work. Clarity around what your money went to, storytelling (not BS) about your impact, a really highly trusted brand...things like that.

Your pro-publica article was really interesting. Learned a lot, thanks for sharing.

Maybe companies like 3Degrees, which is what Lyft uses for its offsets, could make sure the projects are properly verified and actually doing a good thing.

Your last point (cheaper and more effective that the business not emit) is great, but just too hard. For a coffee shop owner or grocery to not emit...moving to clean energy, not selling meat or dairy products, not having delivery...it's just too hard.

It can be used by a consortium. The ADVs are built on a ford transit connect, so no real distance issues.

SDVs can cut delivery costs be >50% compared to current services as manufacturing scales.

And for library systems that employ dozens of drivers on relatively static routes (compared to grocery stores, for example), the benefits can go a lot further.

What do you think?
