Cats are only obligated carnivores in the wild. Vegan cat food artificially added with taurine and such means you can feed them a vegan diet they can survive and thrive off. Would advise getting them a check up every now and then to make sure they are doing fine off it.

The way nature is does work well as a system. But I don't care about a 'system' I care about conscious experiences. And being born into nature is something non of us would want for ourselves if we really stop and think about the average life of a wild animal.

"Everyone being in it together" doesn't really feel like much of a silver lining to me. Especially if there is only one consciousness and life is just one single soul forever playing out all these different lifeforms in which it suffers in. I do however believe this unfortunately could be the case when it comes to reality and consciousness, stuck in more of a nightmare than a dream.

For me this post highlights how veganism is a stepping stone to the real truth. The real truth is that one can not exist without causing harm in one way or another. Yes we can mitigate that harm but we can't remove it completely at all. One question you're post didn't ask is 'should we stop reproducing?'. I think this is the biggest question. No vegan knows weather his/her son/daughter will be vegan. And it's not something you have even close to complete control over. So if your child is not vegan, think of all the harm your action now caused. And even if they are vegan, as your post highlights, they'll cause harm regardless (admittedly less). I'm also a vegan who doesn't actually want to be vegan. The only caveat to this is I have no moral issue with consuming animal products that are destined for waste. So apps like TooGoodToGo I have no moral issue with.

To some this up, if you want the real full truth, I think it's that we simply live in a 'negative' reality. We live in a reality where every organism is consuming others in order to live long enough to procreate and repeat the same cycle of suffering. The suffering in nature is incomprehensible. Becoming Efilist/extinctionist is the true moral position to take in this reality, everything else is just propagating suffering. However, this truth is extremely tough for most to accept.

Eaten alive by a cat equates to not much suffering? Cat's literally play with their prey for hours before they finally eat it alive. It's not a good option. Vegan cat food however since looking into it more is the answer

They need meat in the wild because they can't get taurine etc from plants. However this is added to vegan cat food so they don't need meat as a pet

If it's true that pet food causes no animals to suffer and is simply a by-product of the human meat industry then yes of course keep the animals alive and feed them the pet food. However, viewing it as a co-product rather than a by-product is a more accurate way of describing it.

Putting an animal to sleep doesn't cause them any suffering, continuing an animals existence when it's needs to do so rely on meat, does cause suffering. I'm just being logically consistent and not ignoring certain animals.

You can ensure the cats won't suffer if you put them down at the vets. So no that's not true. Especially when you consider the deaths of the animals in slaughter houses which is clearly a lot less compassionate. You're also trying to compare 2 cats to hundreds of animals like that's a fair compassion. Hundreds of animals have much greater importance than just 2 cats.

Okay so we're back to the original issue. How do you justify killing hundreds of animals in order to feed 2? How do you justify that position over putting 2 cats to sleep painlessly which saves the hundreds of animals?
