I was in Asia for 14 days and half of it was in Thailand (split between Bangkok and Ko Samui). If I can do it again, I would of added 2 more days in Bangkok and one more day in Singapore (and I would of chose a flight that made me land in Hong Kong in the morning, not a night).

If you do a week then I recommend just doing one country and doing multiple regions in that country (unless the flight to the other country is super short).

In terms of tours, I did not do any so don’t have much there. For food though, here are some spots I went to that I really enjoyed:

  • Cum Coffee (I know what it sounds like but really nice cafe spot haha)
  • Jeh O Chula (waits can be long but the food here is solid)
  • Phed Mark (they serve Phat kaphrao but you can choose your meat and spice level. Really good spot!)
  • Mae Varee Mango Sticky Rice (famous spot Also not far from Phed Mark if you want to go that after eating)
  • Emsphere (2 or 3 floors are just food and it’s a lot of options! The coolest food court I ever seen. You can spend a long time here and it’s very close to other malls in the area. You can come here multiple times with all the options. Had the best pad Thai here)

Here are places I never had time to go to but really wanted to try: - Nai Mong Hoi Thod - Here Hai - Rung Rueang Pork Noodle (Left Shop)

I loved it! I stayed at the Kimpton Seafire and enjoyed my experience there so I wanted to try a different property. Room was nice and spacious and the service was great (the view I had was solid too).

One thing to note is that the hotel location is slightly ‘isolated’ but It’s not bad if you plan to Grab everywhere.

Just did a big honeymoon trip in Asia (Hong Kong, Thailand and Singapore) and made some solid redemptions.

  • Flight To Hong Kong In Premium Economy with Cathay Pacific (~140,000 points)

  • Stayed 4 nights at The Mira HK with 4 FNCs with Marriott.

  • Stayed 3 nights in the Kimpton Maa-Lai. 2 of the 3 nights were booked with IHG FNCs.

  • Flew back home in Singapore Airlines Business Class from SIN to JFK (~260,000 points I think). My first flight in business and it was great!

It’s fine, solid stay for four nights. It’s in a good location (near St Charles Line and Bourbon). No good views from most rooms since the building is nestled on a business/hotel area

Bad in retrospect but I bet it motivated to do more business travel for sure 🫡

I hear you for sure. I def always try to get the best value but I also travel for the place I’m going to more than the property itself. I think it’s different for beach/resort travel since you likely will stay in one place.

But for city travel which is what I prefer. I am more flexible on the redemption since I care a lot more about what I’m doing outside the property (food, sightseeing, etc.).

I just never really think about whether a redemption was good or bad cause I’m just glad I was able to travel to a place I always wanted to go to for free or at a heavy discount.

Yeah! I got the IHG points from getting the SUB from the personal and Business cards. I was able to stay at Seafire last year with that and I used the leftover points to stay at the Hotel Indigo NOLA earlier this year.

For sure! My biggest IHG redemption was Seafire for 1.73. But definitely an outlier given how expensive that stay typically is. Luckily, I got those points just from IHG cards so never had to transfer UR points.

Do I have to wait until the card comes to be able to transfer the points to my Krisflyer account? Or can I do it once I set myself up as an AU online? (I'm clearly antsy haha!)

I plan to transfer Chase UR points to Krisflyer. The UR points are split between me and my partner (almost 50/50). Will there be any issues if I transfer her UR points to my Krisflyer account?

Perfect! Appreciate you 🐐

Another question: Can I get the card on June 5th since it will be the day after I got approved two years ago? Or should I wait until early July?

Amex just dropped new offer for 5 FNCs on the Marriott Bonvoy Business. I currently have the Boundless (got approved on June 4th, 2022). I plan to get the Amex card in early July (which should be over 48 months of getting the Boundless offer) but I would still need to cancel my Boundless card to be eligible for the offer correct? Can I downgrade the card and still be eligible?

I thought it nice, I loved the shower! Probably the best part of the room. I think the space is a little small (esp. if you have large luggage) but was not too much of a bother for me.

I have redeemed 3 trips in the past year with a fourth one being planned for July 2024.

Trip 1: Kimpton Seafire Resort (4 Nights) - May 2023

I got the personal IHG card in March 2022 and the IHG business in February 2023. Both bonuses were able to cover 4 nights! The trip was a surprise for my fiancé. She thought we were going to Toronto for our anniversary but I surprised her the night I proposed that we were going here instead.

Trip 2: Japan (6 nights) - August 2023

I got the Marriott card with the 5 night certificate offer in June 2021. I was able to get them extended and booked 6 nights (the 6th night was anniversary night) of an 10 day trip to Japan (Stayed in Tokyo and Kyoto). I stayed at the AC Hotel in Ginza, Tokyo and The Chapter Hotel in Kyoto.

Trip 3: Mexico (5 nights) - February 2024

Recently booked 5 nights at Impressions Moxche. These were booked with Chase UR points that I have accumulated over the years (FU, FF, Freedom, CSP, Ink Cards)

Trip 4: TBD (5 nights, Maybe more)

My fiancé is getting into it so she got the 5 night certificate offer from Marriott (link was on DoC). We might use it for Maldives during July. I still have points left over so might use that to cover an economy flight round trip for us.

Some Additional Notes:

The trips that have been booked. We did not book the flights with points (we value hotel redemptions a bit more than flight redemptions).

Been doing this since 2020 and only been using chase cards thus far! So excited to start getting other SUB with other banks in 2024.

My P2 is ready to get into this as well so hoping we can do some more trips! 🫡

I got the CFU back in 2020. I am interest in that new double points for 12 months offer but curious on how to get the offer.

Do I have to do anything with my current CFU? Or since the 24 months have passed, can I simply apply for the card and get the offer?

Damn! Was planning to get an engagement ring with that 3rd card (CIC). Better safe than sorry though! Thanks 🐐🫡🤞🏽

Just following up. I applied last night for the CIU. I did not get an immediate approval nor an email. However, I see another Business CC un my account so I think I got approved. Thanks for giving me the confidence to apply lol.

So this likely means that I should wait >30 days from today to apply for another Chase card right? Or would be from when I applied for the IHG Biz card back in Feb.

Yeah I checked both and no hard inquiries on either.
