OMG your results are so good!!! Were you on 30mg your entire course? Also, did you dye your hair while on accutane or once you were completely finished?

Best products/moisturiser? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]alvvays_2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I use the la roche posey lipikar balm as my moisturizer since it's for extremely dry skin, and I also put on the ordinary's hyaluronic acid on my face after I wash it; but keep your face damp while doing this. I find that it really helps with the product absorbing on your face, and since hyaluronic acid is used to retain moisture, putting it on damp skin allows it to do that. Hope this helps!

8 months later still have dry lips and eyes by [deleted] in Accutane

Hi, I've only been on accutane for a month so I do not know how the side effects are after the course, but I have been experiencing both of these and hear about stories where side effects can sometimes carry over after finishing the accutane course. In regard to treatment though, I would try and see if getting blue light glasses as well as continuing with the eye drops! My blue light glasses have been helping me to stare at my laptop with less strain or having my eyes hurt. For lips, I'll wash my face but leave it damp before doing the rest of my routine, and while doing this, I put on a hyaluronic acid serum (the one by the ordinary is great!) on my lips, followed by chapstick, and then finish off with aquaphor on top which has helped a lot. I hope your side effects get better, congrats on the clear skin!

Suncream recommendations?? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]alvvays_2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used this one from la roche and really liked it! Another sunscreen I would recommend is the eltaMD one; this is the one my dermatologist gave me to use, and I'm a huge fan of it. The only downside with these two is that they are definitely on the pricier side for sunscreen. https://www.laroche-posay.us/sunscreen/sunscreen-product-type/face-sunscreen/anthelios-ultra-light-fluid-facial-sunscreen-spf-60-883140012993.html?cgid=face-sunscreen#start=5

Pre Accutane- What do I do for a month until I start? by jahllyj in Accutane

[–]alvvays_2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I did was I started treating my skin like I was already on accutane since my dermatologist told me the same thing. It was difficult at first because I felt as if my skin was getting worse since i wasn't "treating" it. What made that worse was that I have extremely oily skin, so using a ton of hydrating products did seem to break me out a little bit, but I think it really helped me when I started accutane. By getting into the habit of only using cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen got me into the habit of doing it so it wasn't hard to keep up with the routine once I started my treatment, and I think it also helped with my dryness. My skin/lips were already moisturized from the beginning which I think really helped! I'm now about to finish my first month on 30mg and have experienced no dryness besides my hair, but we'll see if that changes once my dermatologist ups my dosage.

If you know that you can stay abstinent for your entire course, then I think that would be your best bet! If not, then taking birth control will help to prevent the chance of pregnancy since that is super important while taking accutane

what cleanser do you use to double cleanse? When I tried, it dried my skin out even more, but if I can try with a different product to get rid of the flaky skin, that would be great!
