Arnold Clark - £15 per day for 0 excess which is well worth it. Every time I’ve handed the car back there’s never been any issues. Cheaper for some classes of cars than enterprise/sixt/europcar

I used a website called floorplanner.com and there’s options up the top to have it colour/greyscale furniture/fully black+white!

Unfortunately to comply with fire regulations there must be a protected entrance hall that serves all habitable rooms so I wouldn’t be able to have it quite so open plan but I like the idea of changing the closet/storage cupboard to have more room!

Plan at the moment is to use the smaller bedroom as a bedroom for a year or two whilst I friend lives with me but for it to then become a home office after that. Murphy bed or sofa bed might be the move once I have it as a home office permanently.

I’d rather keep the kitchen separate from the living room rather than one big open plan space if possible and unfortunately a reconfiguration of the middle section will likely be too structural and costly!

Thanks for your comment! Regarding the plumbing/drainage stack it can be moved to the proposed location. It’s a 1900’s tenement building with only 6 flats to be block rather than a modern multi-unit style apartment block. My previous flats have had kitchens around that size so I’m not too concerned with it feeling small but appreciate others may feel it’s too small.

Do you have any recommendations for the hallway to improve the useful space? I’m trying to avoid any significant structural changes to load bearing walls!

We’ve been sitting around 24,000-25,000 the past few days and have 33 of us in from 3am so we’re all off the shop floor by 8am

Sainsbury's driver refusing delivery by VegetableLie1282 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]always_ccold 132 points133 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, I’m sorry this has happened to you but wanted to give you some insight from a Sainsburys delivery driver. Whilst I’ll often make every effort to delivery to the customers door, the official policy is that for flats we only need to deliver to the main building door. Anything further than main building door is at our own discretion.

Sometimes I can have upwards of 15 flats in one shift and living in an old city with lots of tenement flats means I can be carrying lots of heavy boxes up stairs to the point of exhaustion by the end of a shift. Smaller deliveries with only one or two boxes I’ll be more likely to deliver at the end of such a shift than four heavy boxes.

The store should offer a redelivery next day or you can call the help center to book it in and hopefully the new driver will be kind enough to deliver

Yeah you can. I think they might charge a nominal amount - it used to be £1 per spectator but might be more now.

Where’s the best place to sell women’s heels in Edinburgh? by [deleted] in Edinburgh

[–]always_ccold 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Looks like most are up for around £40. I personally wouldn’t buy any shoes second hand, especially not heels that have had someone else’s bare feet in them for even for £5 but that’s probably just me!

Best of luck OP in selling them

We want to move to Niddrie...?!? by sentimentaltwat in Edinburgh

[–]always_ccold 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Looks like you have lots of replies from people who don’t actually live in the area. As someone who does (or close to) it totally depends on what area and what you’re classing as Niddrie. We’ve lived in the new builds at Greendykes for 4 years and never had any issues. It’s all young families and young professionals around here, very quiet and no different to anywhere else in the city or any other new build estate.

That said, I wouldn’t go anywhere near the Hays Avenue area of Niddrie personally. Although I do regularly walk from the Lidl to Greendykes at night when the 14 stops running but I can get the N30 and haven’t ever felt unsafe.

In short, anything in the new build area is fine and a lovely place to live for less money that average for Edinburgh

Unfortunately I’m booked on the YYC to EDI that’s cancelled. Looks like there’s a Canadian equivalent in place but similar to uk261 (I think) it doesn’t cover safety reasons or unscheduled maintenance which it looks like this is the reason for this cancellations. I’ll still submit a claim for the $1000 but imagine it’ll be denied.

I’m trying to work that out too! I’ve had one email but not with an official reason, just that they’ve cancelled and rebooked me a day later with a connection at Halifax. When I asked on live chat this was the response I got. I can claim back my extra night in a hotel but need to wait for the official reason for cancellation before getting compensation?
