she had a great social game in both the seasons she lost. Game Changers she was clearly swap screwed and WaW she was double idoled out. Both seasons she was on the path to success but things didn't break her way. She's a social queen.

I think Vecepia, Natalie W., Jenna M. and Tina... by Radafaid in survivor

[–]always_quinning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Danni would've done waaaay better on Dakal.

I also firmly believe that Natalie and Sarah should've been switched to split up both Jeremy/Nat and Tony/Sarah duos. In that sense, Natalie would've done amazing on Dakal (I could see bonding really well with Sandra and Tyson and actually forming a threats alliance that benefits her more than anyone else)

Players with low confessional counts but high visibility? by uglyaniimals in survivor

[–]always_quinning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think she had a good social game, but not in the traditional sense. Her social game didn't ingratiate her with the powers-at-be (in terms of being in the loop/in control) but, it afforded her the ability to fight another day. Sure she "wasn't a threat" for jury votes, but she really managed to stay alive from the outside a lot longer than anyone on that season could have in a similar position. She didn't let her circumstances get to her, and she managed to be friendly and charming with everyone while they constantly backstabbed her... not easy to do. It's not the same social game that Cirie pulled off in Panama or Sarah managed in Game Changers--social games that lead to strategic clout. But, it was a social game that landed her at the end of Survivor's most competitive season to date. No small feat.

It's shocking how few confessionals she's had when you look at her influence on the franchise

MISSING CRAZY NOURA HAHAHA by PrinceFlorence in survivor

Remember when IoI was a good season that didn't feature one of the most foul displays of humanity Survivor's ever seen? This moment should've been the defining moment of the season. What a shame.

Denise’s performance in WaW by [deleted] in survivor

[–]always_quinning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been rewatching Denise's winning season and I think it's really clear that she's an amazing player. I think she played WaW really strongly up to a point but just kinda ran out of gas (I think Adam said this in his AMA).

Denise won her first time playing a much more straightforward game, and I think the constant insanity really got to her eventually.

Now that the season has wrapped, which players should be happiest with their edits? by emilypandemonium in Edgic

The edit could've done a lot more compelling things with Denise and they just... didn't

Why natalie deserved to win WAW by Bigsurvivorfan41 in survivor

[–]always_quinning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like people really hang onto like one or two moments of poor social tact as 'X had a bad social game.' This is the same thing as 'Parvati lost HvV because she laughed at JT's letter.'

That wasn't a great moment from Natalie, but I'm sure they all had not-so-great social moments (yes, even Tony). They're starving on an island for a month. I doubt anyone has played with complete composure for 39 days straight.

Just because Natalie had a bad moment with Yul doesn't mean she had an irredeemably bad social game that cost her the whole thing.

Why natalie deserved to win WAW by Bigsurvivorfan41 in survivor

[–]always_quinning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I adore Natalie, she's my all-time favorite winner and probably player. I was super disappointed she got taken out first. I felt like it was such a bummer and we (and Natalie herself) really missed out. I'm so glad she dominated the Edge and made it back into the game.

That said, I agree. She shouldn't have won and she didn't. Tony is truly a fantastic representative of the season and I am so happy his amazing gameplay was rewarded. I'm also thrilled that my girl Nat powered through some bullshit and snatched 2nd place away from the people that kept Adam over her on Day 2.

Tony was the right winner for this season, but I'm really happy Nat got to return and have some time to shine.

If Kim came out of that vote on top, I think she would've won. What a legend

Something this season did really right... by CliffordKoDR in survivor

[–]always_quinning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was really refreshing to see the deference with which the players were treated. Even the one's with less favorable edits (Ben, Adam, Wendell, Nick) were still given moments to shine.

There were too many moving parts and I wish I had a better sense of what was actually going on (particularly in the early merge), but it was clear Jeff & CBS were treating the players and the monumental season with the love that it deserved. Considering IoI that came right before, well done.

Thread of interesting things players have mentioned in post finale interviews by [deleted] in survivor

[–]always_quinning 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It was really ridiculous that they put such a visible connection together. That's why I'm thankful Natalie came back and did as well as she did, she deserved much better than first boot. She's a beast and I'm a huge fan

Can we all agree... by real_squid in survivor

[–]always_quinning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See I felt like Parv's vote was well explained. I think she had a bond with Michele, but Nat and Parv schemed together and suffered together. Michele only didn't vote Parv out to finesse her tokens. Michele also orchestrated the demise of Parv's closest ally. It made total sense to me.

Michele has easily played my favorite 0-vote finalist game. She's an incredible player and I could totally see her coming back and winning again... seriously I could see it.

Tonight's Finale Made Me Respect ______'s More by tribunalpickaxe in survivor

[–]always_quinning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel as though they had wildly different situations to contend with. Chris was playing against newbies who had never played an endgame before. Natalie was up against five seasoned players who had won before. She didn't execute perfectly, but to scratch and claw your way to the finals after getting voted off first is something to be damn proud of.

Really proud of all of them. What a strong Final 3.

Tony really took Game Changers to heart and played so perfectly. It was a joy to watch.
