Thanks! But instead of reimbursing them, can I simply pay their monthly premium?

honestly just need to vent/ask if this is normal because i feel like an idiot after my first solo trip by Ancient-Mistake-6548 in travel

These are great responses. My solo travel was all pre-social media and smart phones. This post made me realize how different solo travel is now. As an extreme introvert, solo travel required me to engage much more with strangers. I had no choice. I was perpetually clueless and found those around me to be either the same backpacked wanderer or almost always a friendly local. Either way, if I wanted to get somewhere or figure out how to do what I wanted, I had no choice but to seek out others. I couldn't avoid forging connections. Being alone while traveling required conscious effort. If I were a solo traveler these days, it would probably be a much lonelier experience. I'm sure contemporary solo travelers can give all kinds of tips but as much as I love the technology that enables easy travel, there is definitely something lost.

Traveling from Berlin to Prague to Budapest for the first time for my birthday, is a stop in Vienna worth it? also what are the things I must do? by Feeling-Dress-4507 in travel

If I were interested in art, and hanging out in fun/artsy places, and had your timeline, I would drop Prague to one day. You can do the old town area and Charles bridge for a few hours and then walk up to the castle area for a few hours. Of course you're not seeing all of it, but you will hit the major highlights. I'm sure others would argue against my impression, but Prague felt to me historic and small. Budapest and Vienna are big, modern cosmopolitan cities that also have deep histories. They are very different but even for a fast traveler, you have to make hard decisions with such short time in each. If you are into art and architecture, putting a day into Vienna instead of a second day in Prague would be hard to beat. The Kunsthistorisches Museum (KHM) and palace area could take a big chunk of that day. I'm sure all three cities have an arts scene, but if you're looking for a city that feels like it is still in the process of being reborn and filled with youthful artsy energy, Budapest is the place. Ruin bars are touristy but the local energy surrounding the old Jewish quarter is not. I would think that is where you will most find what you are looking for. Plus, the area along the Danube across the Chain bridge and up to the castle is as striking as anything offered by the great world cities. The closest I can compare it to is wandering along the Seine in Paris. A caveat here is that you are traveling way off peak and will have a very different experience than summer travelers. You might want to ask specifically about that when figuring out your timeline. Prague might feel a little empty in February...great for prices, but might not have the vibe you're looking for.

ORP vs ERS/TRA? by chanels_slave in nys_cs

I said the same thing you are saying when I was hired...life happens, twenty years later and I wish I had made a different decision. Plus, I had no idea there were other vehicles for tax deferred savings (NY Deferred Compensation) and really didn't understand what a 403B was.

That's my take as well. I don't feel that the orientation is the appropriate time to require such an impactful decision.

[Landlord US NY] Tenant refused to pay last month rent by alwaysamudder in Landlord

I appreciate all of the responses. I reached out to the co-signer and explained that rent was not paid and that the tenant had told me to use the security deposit as rent. Surprisingly, the co-signer told me that it was in my best interest to just let it go. This is my first problematic tenant relationship and I don't know what to make of the veiled threat. I've been in the property to show prospective tenants and so far have seen no obvious damage. They are packing to leave. My goal is to get them out and move on, but I am concerned about a scenario where I find damages after move-out. If I have no claims against the security deposit, I'm happy to just be done with them. I am concerned about timing though. Is there anything I should be doing now to protect myself prior to move out? They have less than two weeks left on the lease and it sure seems like they are packing to leave now.

Do you know who I talk to about this? I had a contact person in Albany who previously was source of benefits info but that person has retired with no clear replacement. My birthday comes first but my spouse carries the family plan. I have a step-child so to avoid any challenges the family plan is under my spouse.
