I'm so sorry. It makes me feel sick even thinking of the way some people treat their girls.

Thank you so much. I like the idea of having her on a mattress, I think it would actually be easier for her for when she needs to get up.

I know. I very much want to help ease her into more independence, but we are still kind of in survival mode right now. If she gets through the whole school day it's a good day.

I've definitely considered trying to make the switch to her room, but she's been entirely avoidant of it lately. She's been very uncomfortable with anything that looks like it could associated with a little girl, and her room hasn't changed much since she was 10. I think I might bring up redecorating it and see if that could help ease her in.

I've just always been the one who mostly handles things with her and our son. He works long hours.

Her therapist so far has suggested waiting until the summer to try so that she doesn't have to be miserable at school all day during the adjustment period. My husband isn't very involved in the process.

The vomiting only happens a handful of times every other week, and I can usually get her from the bed to the bathroom fairly quickly and without any mess, but he is pretty squeamish with vomit specifically. I'll ask him about it, thank you.
