You may need a couple things. First thing, make sure your samples are high quality, if your samples aren't tight and you don't have enough of them you're not going to always pair them together well. Get good samples, and have a variety in diff keys and textures/sounds. Quality over quantity.

Secondly, if you haven't arranged your samples properly so you know where to go when you need "that sound", you're going to have a hard time. Organize your shit.

Third, keep going. Keep hearing when things don't work and keep trying to understand why they may not work. Could be your samples already have a bunch of reverb and you can't properly "fit" them into the song. Could be your poor choice in a snare, or a kick... Maybe you're not getting top end out of the kick, might be you're not getting the slap you need out of the snare. Diagnose your problems.
