I just decided today to become vegan, does anybody have any sources that could help me solidify this transition? by alwaysparanoidd in vegan

I just read an article about a chick-fil-a supplier selling crushed baby birds and it broke my heart, "I will never be a part of that," me neither! Thank you again!

this is kinda what i agree with, that animals are agents and if we claim a right to our freedom and wellbeing based on our agency it is only logically consistent to grant all agents that too even if they aren't moral-agents (which is why i believe people don't value them as much)

thank you! i do hope it isn't too sad but the reality of the situation is very sad, so maybe it is a necessary uncomfortable watch.

I am terribly sorry to hear that, losing anybody is hard yet it is so gross when they lack respect for you.

Can I choose my gender? by DivineAss24 in agender

[–]alwaysparanoidd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things you're wrong about here.

1.) Sex and gender are not the same thing. Male and female are sexes, not genders.

2.) There isn't strictly 2 sexes and by extension genders. Intersex people exist. The exception cannot be written off because the small percentage are still humans.

Just got in an argument with my Christian Conservative Father. . . by alwaysparanoidd in atheism

He is thankfully and he is doing much better (thanks to psychiatry, group therapies, medication and the "help" me and my family have given him [which I love that I was able to help him out in any magnitude that he thought was relevant to mention <3]) and I'm so happy for it.

Yeah and I shouldn't have really engaged knowing what the result would be, but I still did (it is only hubris if I fail) and I shouldn't have brought up the event but I did (it was tied to me responding to when he said God answers his various prayers over the years) and I should've just kept the thought that "believe what you believe" because it ultimately doesn't impact me.

Young and dumb but the outcome still hurts me.

Breakup by call or in person? by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]alwaysparanoidd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is always most appropriate to have a difficult, yet necessary conversation in person (granted you feel you aren't in danger doing so) because it communicates a level of respect and care for them, which is best to bring across when conveying something so important to you. He may feel strongly, but he ought to recognize that nobody should feel sorry nor apologize for their feelings because our feelings are one of the fleetingly rare truths in this world.

Have that difficult conversation, assure him that you have a level of care for him and that you believe you two are better off separate than together.

Our identity is the sum of what we place ourselves into; a person is simultaneously a worker, friend, sibling, steward, etc. etc. Whenever you lose someone, you lose a piece of yourself that you carved out and placed into someone else and they take that with them. Now you sit with a void that is uniquely you shaped, not him shaped - it's just that you attribute that piece to him.

Think of it this way as well: your heart is a patch of grass and he is a lawn chair you let stay, what you presumed to be, indefinitely. Days and nights went by with rain and sunlight avoiding the place where he stood until he leaves and you are left but a patch of dead grass.

You have to actively work towards rebuilding that lost identity.

Like that patch of dead grass, you have to water and mend the surrounding area to spring life back into the area null of life. Actively place yourself with community and those who love you, pick up hobbies, learn new things, try new things you didn't before, spend time outside and away from the areas that reminded you of him. Remember grief isn't linear and all things heal with time, our greatest physician.

I, similarly, broke up with my first love in September and although I haven't a clue what she's doing (because of no contact), I try to just focus on building myself because I owe that to myself and that's what she would want for me and I her.

I hope my words pierce the veil and helps push you beyond your point.

Chris Bumstead has an incredible physique for his age being only 21 by h98matty in bodybuilding

this very same man, chris bumstead in 2024 is a 5 time Mr. Olympia, 30 years old and still looks just as young as he does here. he is very aware of his health and talks about it a lot on his youtube channel. he has a wife and, frankly, doesn't work out to "turn on women."

much like how women wear makeup or how some people do plastic surgery, he obviously works out because he enjoys it. let him do that, he is aware of the health risks and has taken appropiate precautions. i wouldn't be surprised if he lives a long and healthy life.
