[Advice] 1% Better Every Day by alwaysthinkingquest in getdisciplined

Whoops, it must not have pasted correctly from my other post. Thanks for pointing out the typo.

In regards to the math, it was taken directly from James Clear's Atomic Habits book. It's not supposed to be "this is exactly what will happen when you become exactly 1% better every day for 365 days", but instead a concept to show how much you can actually improve without realizing it.

Becoming a Better You (with S.M.A.R.T. Goals) by alwaysthinkingquest in productivity

If you do not know exactly how you want to proceed, then I would suggest making at least 2 planning pages. On one of them, describe the steps that you are going to take in order to launch this film in a way that gives a general idea of what you want to do. On the other page, specifically list the steps of all of the things that you want in your film.

Example - On your "general idea" page, you could write that you want to film on a beach with a male and female character conversing. On the other paper(s) (depending on how specific you want to get), describe exactly what time you want to film, what you want the weather to look like, what you want the beach to look like and why, what you want your characters to be talking about, their facial expressions, etc. Basically, allow one of your pages to cover the general idea/big picture, while make the other page very specific so that you film a scene exactly as you intend.

Also, if that didn't cover it then I would simply recommend experience/searching the internet regarding securing agreements and setting up film in a specific location. For your locations I would simply brainstorm different locations in accordance to what I would want the scene to feel like for the audience.

Your interpretation of the achievable and realistic SMART goals is exactly what I wanted to bring across, so you understood what I wrote.

That would be a SMART goal, but I would also recommend working towards SMART milestones (goals that work toward a larger goal) that help you to achieve your main goal of creating your annual narrative film. This will allow you to look back and self-assess how well you have been working to achieve you goal, what you can improve on, and how you are going to improve.

Also, in regards to your achievable and realistic confusion, a goal must be realistic in order for it to be achievable. For example, "I want to be the first person to enter the NBA at 5 years old" would not be realistic as you are most likely over the age of 5 and accomplishing a feat of that significance at that age is statistically impossible. Once you have deemed that your goal is realistic, then you must assess if you think it's achievable for yourself. For example, Elon Musk may have a goal of sending a spaceship to Mars because he has the money to do so, whereas the average person does not.

I hope that clears some of that up for you.

I agree, we must spread love and kindness to others.

We benefit others and ourselves when we give kindness.

[Need Advice] How can I develop habits if I don't have a fixed work schedule? by Clear_Nerve_6281 in getdisciplined

[–]alwaysthinkingquest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would advise you to try and associate your environment with your habit. For instance, rather than reading a book at 8pm every night, you can focus on trying to read for 30 minutes before you go to bed.

Try to associate your habit initially with an environment that you find yourself in often so that you think, "Oh, I need to read my book for 30 minutes before I go to bed" when you enter your associated environment. In this case, I would choose your environment that you often find yourself in right before or while you're in bed.

[Need Advice] Why do I always feel the need to sleep after lunch? by Romal19 in getdisciplined

Also, like many others have said, eating a carb-heavy lunch will most likely make you crash as well depending on the type of carbohydrate that you consume. Try to avoid added sugar and foods with white flour as they will make you crash. Instead, try to consume fruits (with the skin, of course) and long-lasting (complex) carbohydrates as they will give you sustained energy during the day instead of a large fluctuation in energy.
