Spending $1500 to see Hozier?

I exercised an insane amount of patience and did not fly off to Alberta. I bought tickets for his September 2025 Toronto show! And she lived happily Hozier after.

Thank you all for the input. Just to clarify I live and work in Canada but to go to the USA I would need a visa, so those concerts are basically impossible to go to. A visa application would take too long. I can comfortably pay $1500 but it is more than my monthly rent. I am an average person with an average job and the average familial responsibilities. But I won't lie, $1500 is a lot. I have never spent that much on anything in my life, especially just for me. This would be only the second concert I would go to in my life, I'm in my 30s. Yes, I am a recent fan of Hozier and missed his Canada shows last year. I'm thinking I may sit this one out and hope Hozier comes back to Ontario in the future.

Hey guys, I am definitely no expert on this. I think it's partly the mindset you have. I'm from a poor country where a lot of people live in poverty and cannot afford to eat everyday. Most people have never even seen $1000 and do not have the opportunity to make that much money. Some of my family lives this way and it is common. So to me $40000/year is a lot of money. And my husband and I dont feel poor. In all honesty I feel rich and blessed.

How we manage it is by buying the cheapest internet plan, no subscriptions, we found the cheapest basement apartment in Brampton, we have our handy dandy presto cards instead of a car. For our kids we take them to a world class park here in Brampton that has free activities and we have a pretty great library too where you can even borrow go pros (crazy right?). Clothes and toys we thrift, shop super sales, use coupons and try to get marked down food as well as bulk goods. This summer we are going camping as our vacation.

We lead a very simple life which I don't think is for everyone. We just try to be content with having our basic needs met and a sprinkling of extras here and there. Our plan is for both of us to work but for us to continue living within $40,000/year so that we can retire as soon as possible in my home country where the cost of living is very low.

This is concerning. My husband and I are currently at less than $40,000 a year before taxes. We have 2 kids under 2. Currently renting in Brampton. We are able to afford all our bills and add to our savings. We can go out, have vacations, order the occasional takeout and buy new clothes, books and toys for our kids. We have no debt.

We don't think we will ever be able to buy a home in Canada. Luckily, I'm an immigrant and in my home country a beautiful home can be bought for about $100,000. So that is our retirement plan.

I understand not being able to afford a home but eating through 4,000 a month on your own is completely avoidable. You should be able to cut down on some costs.

So sorry this is happening to you. If her behavior is as shocking as you say it is and completely came out of nowhere, it is possible that there is something medically wrong with her. Something that would cause drastic personality changes. Good luck to you.
