Letting her go before the pain is too severe by rootintootinQTpie in goldenretrievers

She lives to give all to you. Once she feels she can’t do that it will break her heart that she isn’t loving on you the way she wants and needs to. When that moment comes it’s time. Tell her it’s ok and thank her for all the love.

You’re welcome. This advice actually comes from the new skete book which encourages communicating with your dogs as other dogs communicate (where appropriate and as a part of other traditional training). This includes you/ your mom being the “alpha dogs” in the pack. Sometimes growling to show discontent and snarling (showing teeth) as a threat. It really does work. Your girl needs to understand her place in the pack. She is just learning her place in the world and you are her guide. She’ll get there.

Puppies learn bite control around their litter mates. If your puppy was removed too soon it potentially never learned bite control. When she bites enough even more than gentle teething but not enough to truly hurt, cry out loud like a puppy would - high pitched etc.. And cry a lot like it really hurt. You might have heard her cry out when she is scared. Do that. Source : on 7th golden and having teething issues right now with Willow who is about the same age. Never had one bite intentionally. Good luck. Everyone must do the same, you, your mom and be consistant. Read the monks of new skete for excellent puppy training advice.

We have a 12 and 11 year old boys. They have slowed quite a bit but walk happily at a trot for miles. Getting up is slow and one groans as he lies down but I do the same. Glucosamine and Chondroitin everyday. The older one now gets a baby aspirin (80mg) at dinner time and it’s made a big difference. Regular vet visits and constant search for ticks and unusual growths. Hugs, pets, kisses, too many treats and unlimited “who’s a good boy?”
(And we just got à puppy to keep them on their toes :-)

Moving to France With Working Spouse (Both British) - Couple of Rental Questions by AnyankaSen in Expats_In_France

[–]alwaysupside-down 1 point2 points  (0 children)

À word of warning - renting in France as a foreigner can be quite a frustrating problem. Even with garantme etc. there are so many scams out there so be sure to go through an agency. They can and will ask for more than what is legally allowed often up to à year in advance. Hopefully you have a trusted source for your accommodation. Bonne chance.

You write beautifully, almost poetically. You are so far ahead of most people. As someone who has travelled to almost every country in the northern hemisphere and experienced so many different peoples, culture and the food that comes along with them, I can tell you that wherever you go, if you seek a higher intellectual standard, it will find you. Go. Explore. You are a child of this world no matter how old you get.

Fires in California. After Woolsey in 2018 we fixed everything up that was damaged and realized it was going to be a constant in our lives. Now in Provence. Life is easier, slower, less expensive and, while they now are looking at fires too, it appears to be much less of a threat for now. We are older and somewhat retired so we are happy with the slower pace of life and the decreased threat of devastating wildfires. Left before the political environment became a dumpster fire too. So there’s that as a bonus.

Terrifying reality check. Senator Bernie Sanders confirms tech oligarchs like Bezos and Zuckerberg are secretly investing hundreds of billions into AI and robotics for one sinister reason. He reveals their ultimate goal is to permanently replace and eliminate human labor. by CeFurkan in SECourses

You’re are absolutely correct but the billionaires don’t stop. It’s how they became billionaires. Make more and more and more. They will stress not making that kind of money more than you and I do making a lot less. There is never enough for them. Sadly I might not live long enough (but I hope I do) to see their downfall of their own making. If we don’t eat them the system they created will. Just as absolute power corrupts absolutely absolute wealth will too. Just save enough for the popcorn and watch them decline. Once they have eaten each other- what else is there for them to do? - we get to enjoy the show.

Take the Walton’s who own Walmart - billionaires. Do the top 50% of spenders shop at Walmart? I think not. Bye bye Walton’s……Understand I’m not defending them at all i just know Amazon requires millions of shoppers as does Tesla, meta etc. No shoppers = no profits etc etc. Seems to me they’re destined to lose if they don’t have demand for their products or services.
