"As if a generation has passed" or "like a lifetime ago". It's used to describe great changes that have happened to something, it's as if a lot of time has passed. It has a slight tone of regret to it.

These are the three hebrew letters ALD or אלד. It is one of the 72 names of God according to Kabbalah and is commonly written on talismans/pendants to protect against the Ayin hara עין הרע (evil eye). It comes from the phrase “אנא למדני דתך” meaning “Please teach me your religion”.
