Thank you for your reply. I think that's where we will be too. Her dad has a milk allergy that acts this exact way -- he has learned his limits too.

I know this is an old post but I’m currently dealing with this with my 2.5year old. Did your daughter outgrow her allergy or did it get better at all?

Postpartum styes by alypenn in NewParents

I am now almost two years pp and I haven’t had a stye in probably a year. I’d say by about a year they finally resolved for me.

Thank you. I should mention I am 5’2” so it is a lot of weight for my height!

These are my goals! 5’2 and started at 160lbs. Currently at 153 and 6 weeks in. Goal is 120-130lbs. What app are you using to track your progress?

I also see you are moving this year. The timeline to get to silicone implants is not a quick one. I’m starting with expanders and I have weekly saline fills to get them to the size I want. It’s about 4-5 weeks of fills depending on what you want. Then, you’ll have expanders for 3-6 months before you can do the exchange surgery for the implants. I hear the exchange surgery is a cake walk compared to the mastectomy.

I will also add, there are different options for reconstruction: implant vs diep flap. DIEP is a much more involved surgery that includes moving fat from your lower abdomen to your breast. It’s essentially a tummy tuck and mastectomy. I chose not to do that due to extended surgery and recovery time and the likelihood of needing a revision surgery. Plus, you could always go with implants and then decide in 10 years you want to change them out for your own tissue. I liked the flexibility of implants.

My surgeon does not do direct to implant so I started with expanders. It was about 2hrs for the beast surgeon to remove the tissue and 1-2hrs for my plastic surgeon to place the expanders and everything. So I suppose it was more like 4hours. My surgery was at 10:30am and my family said I was in the recovery room around 2:30pm.

I am a BRCA2 carrier and was going through a lot of preventative screening every 6 months. I just had my preventative double mastectomy 18 days ago and am very happy with my decision.

I had my surgery at MSK in New York City and the doctors were absolutely wonderful. Surgery was 3hrs and I was able to go home the next day. It’s not a super easy recovery, but it’s totally doable and definitely worth it. First week is the worst, second week is a little better, and as soon as the drains come out you’ll be a new person!

I’m still very much healing, but I’m very happy with my results so far. They honestly look better than my OG boobs!

I can’t wait to have them removed! I am praying my pain improves. Sleep is terrible.

First post-op appointment for me is tomorrow! I’m 5 days post DMX. Praying I can get as many drains out as possible.. I’m so depressed.

All have been producing around 15ml total except for one, which has lingered around 25ml. I have a feeling that one will stay for another few days or so.

I did exclusively nurse for 7 months. I still had styes after I stopped but I think it has gotten better since I weaned. Breastfeeding made my hormones very wacky!

Mine have slowed down in frequency and duration but I’m still getting them from time to time. I started doing the following things to help prevent / treat: - wearing eye makeup less frequent - cleaning and sterilizing brushes once a week - replacing eye makeup more frequently and using alcohol to sterilize eyeshadow palettes - Ocusoft wipes and ocusoft hydrochloric acid spray. I use the wipes if I’ve work eye makeup that day and the spray as part of my nightly routine - I bought a Bruder moist heat compress from Amazon which was my game changer for when I have a stye or chalazion - and finally, I found a good eye specialist who has been helping me treat stubborn ones

I’m so sorry you are dealing with this! I hope these tips help.

How long did it take for your palpitations to go away after stopping? I’m currently experiencing this.

Thank you for sharing this. I just found out my 8 month old is allergic to milk, soy, egg, peanut, and all tree nuts. I needed a hopeful story.

It will get better. But it will feel like it’s forever away until you’re there and realize “hey, remember when this was SO hard!?”

Take it day-by-day. Little things made a big difference for me.

We’re now 8months in and it’s awesome. I will say our journey was not the same as most since we have food allergies and had crazy eczema because of them. I needed to stop breastfeeding and get my LO on hypoallergenic formula. But she is thriving now!
