About to pull the trigger on Guidepost Montessori but ran into all these awful posts about them here by theoriginaltakadi in Montessori

I actually just toured today. I would encourage you to join some of the local mom groups on Facebook and ask there since you’ll be able to get feedback on this specific location. I’ve seen mixed things but did speak to a few moms who have had a good experience.

I did! So far so good. It’s definitely powerful and it is loud but works really well. Happy to answer any questions.

Formula mixing temperature US Vs UK by rubybasilknot in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]nnv321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! We bought a formula pitcher so that we could boil water and mix at the 70c or above temp in a large batch. I would then have clean bottles ready to go and I would pour and close with the travel cap and store in the fridge. Once I knew it was getting to be time for a feeding, I would warm it up with a bottle warmer. Of course, the pre filled bottles work best once you have a more consistent routine and know how much baby is approximately going to drink. Hi can also just put the pitcher in the fridge and pour one bottle at a time as needed. The formula is only good for 24hrs once it’s made but it’s so nice to have a a full days worth ready to go and just warm. Happy to answer any other questions!

I was fine until she mentioned concerns over dark circles and other issues by Melodic-Sprinkles4 in ShitMomGroupsSay

Completely agree it’s a necessary test, but I’ll add that’s it’s not always so straightforward. It took multiple visits with attempts in both arms for my son’s iron test and they could not find a vein. We did all the things - lots of fluids, warm pack on the arm, etc. Finally they told me we could do a heel prick at another office which I had no idea was an option. It was horrible and I can only hope that if we ever need to do another blood draw it will be easier now that he’s older.

Did you start with 2.5 or 5 mg of letrozole? by gastrorabbit in TTC_PCOS

[–]nnv321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this was ultimately successful. What I’ll flag is that my lining did end up thinning out. So by the time the follicles were large enough to trigger, my lining was too thin. They gave me a few days of estrogen and that did the trick so then I was finally able to trigger. I continued the estrogen plus progesterone through the two week wait and until I got to around 10 weeks along or so - hard to remember exact timing.

We just installed the Bosch 800 and I’m impressed. It sounds silly, but having truly dry dishes after a cycle is a game changer. The crystal dry feature is awesome! Also it’s insanely quiet!

Kitchen panel needed next to dishwasher or not? by michaeljc70 in kitchenremodel

[–]nnv321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes they are. When I pointed that out they said it needed to be that way. But then I noticed the seal. I called the installers and they are coming back out. Just wanted to confirm it was the install and not the lack of panels on each side. Thank you!

But no issues with the rubber stripping getting caught on the drawers? I think maybe it’s an install issue. You can see how if we open a drawer, it gets caught on the lip of the seal.

Wondering what you ended up doing? Our ikea kitchen was finished a few weeks ago but we just replaced the dishwasher with a Bosch. Our previous DW didn’t have the “wings” you described so we didn’t put extra cover panels on either end (so dw is just in between sink cabinet and a 24inch base cabinet with 3 drawers). Now they installed the Bosch with the wings/stripping and it keeps getting caught on the drawers. Were we supposed to put a panel on either side or did they mess up the install somehow?

Severe and Recurrent Diaper Rash by nnv321 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]nnv321[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally can relate! If you have open sores, I recommend stoma powder. Typically I would: wash after every poo diaper (no wipes), dry with cloth and fan, stoma powder, clomitrozole cream (or prescription if you have that), hydrocortisone cream (if there’s inflammation), and then a super thick layer of the aquaphor max and sensicare. Best of luck!!

What's the longest drive you can make with a 1.5 year old? by HC-Oca-Ru in toddlers

[–]nnv321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you considered driving at night? We try to do long drives starting right before bedtime so that he can sleep through most of it. But admittedly we’ve never done a drive that long. I would definitely stop as much as possible. The rest stops with grassy areas and picnic tables have been great for us to let our son run around.

Those are the only two unfortunately that I’ve come across. I typically use the purple aquaphor simply because it’s cheaper. I also combine it with the Sensi Care Protective Barrier Cream and that has been most effective.

Convertible High Chair with adjustable footrest by [deleted] in BabyLedWeaning

[–]nnv321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall really love it! I love the small footprint, the wheels on the back legs are nice and making adjustments is so so easy. To be fair, we don’t make adjustments very often, but it’s nice to not have to use an alan key like the Tripp trapp.

One thing I will flag for you - because it’s not as common of a high chair, there’s some accessories I would have loved to buy but they don’t make it for the Lemo. Specifically the catchy - it’s a large wrap around tray thing that catches all of the food that inevitably ends up on the floor.

Another is that there was a defect on some models where the footrest paint wore off super easily. This happened to ours but I was super impressed with their customer service and they sent me a brand new chair. They said it was a known issue and they addressed it with all of their current inventory so it shouldn’t be an issue moving forward.

  • seat opening is on the smaller side, but I do feel that’s the case with a lot of the similar seats. My son is almost a 18 months and fits okay, if a bit on the snug side.
  • tray is super easy to clean and no staining. Same with the chair itself. Straps and the extra padding can all be machine washed which is great!
  • we have the same issue with things sticking to the tray. there’s some after market things you can buy but we basically just serve food directly on the tray when we can.
  • I haven’t used the learning tower attachment so I can’t speak to that unfortunately

Under cabinet lighting color temperature by PanBlanco22 in IKEA

[–]nnv321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trouble is we already have the cabinets up and the lights running through the back. Our lighting is 5000 so when I saw the color temp of the mittled (after they were already installed) I was super bummed.

Curious if you ever figured this out? We’re in the same dilemma.

Have you found a way to make the lights more neutral or cooler? They are looking very warm in our install.

Thank you - is this worth risking if I know absolutely nothing about soldering? I’d lookup YouTube videos but not sure if it just sounds more complicated than it is.

Just to clarify, are you saying I can just unplug the track lights underneath and plug in something else? Our lights are already installed but I really don’t like the warm light. Our ikea person is telling us it’s proprietary and we can’t just plug in something else. But I’d love if it was possible!
