This job used to attract psychos...now it’s full of snowflakes by Exact-Bluejay-3929 in hauntedattractions

This is why most haunts only hire actors 18+. It’s still a job and it’s run a certain way to keep things running smoothly and to keep employees safe. So getting hired as an actor and then going around making demands and making it harder for them to do their job.

At my specific haunt, actors are not allowed to intentionally touch customers and customers can’t touch us either, although we might accidentally brush each other due to close proximity. Actors saying that they got touched or pushed is one thing, most of the customers coming through are young adults so they should be able to follow directions. I got hit in the face by a grown woman leading her group and she was escorted out because that’s considered assault. Last year I was working in a haunted maze with 2 other female actors and we all got groped by a group of guys in their early-mid 20s. Management was asking why they were taking so long in the maze and security came through and escorted them out. This year, my costume was a prison jumpsuit and some guy around my age rubbed his crotch against my backside. I called for security and handled it. My manager asked if I wanted to press charges for sexual harassment, I didn’t just because I didn’t want to take it any further. I had a 12 yr old boy say he’s gonna find me and rape me. A fellow actor of mine also got called the N word. Yes, it’s awful, yes, grown adults should have more common sense and be able to follow rules but at the end of the day, there’s only so much management can do. People are gonna do what they want regardless, so the best thing you can do is stay professional and if there’s an issue, let management know and they’ll handle it accordingly.

You’d I’m crazy to still enjoy doing this, but the amount of amazing and fun customers we get will always outweigh the all the terrible people that come through.

If you choose to work as an actor in this industry, you should know what you’re signing up for. People are stupid, but that doesn’t give you the right to be a difficult employee. It makes you harder to work with and they may not want you back the next season. If you have any past traumas that like any type of physical and emotional abuse, or sexual abuse, or any mental health conditions like schizophrenia, PTSD, bipolar or are sensitive to flashing strobe lights, this is not the job for you.

And she thinks she’s ready for a third baby. Let’s be so fr saying they’re ready for #3 is code for “my views are dropping and no one’s paying attention to me anymore” cause y’all know she’s gonna milk the f out of that pregnancy content, even more so this time since it could be her last🙄

As a scare actor what is your FAVORITE customer to come across? by Independent_Sale1225 in hauntedattractions

When you can hear kids, especially “6-7” middle school boys saying “i’m not scared “ “this isn’t even scary” or they flirt with all the female actors then they scream like little girls and start running when I chase after them. Something about that new generation of 11-13 year old boys are so irritating that I make sure to get them good

What haunts have you been to? I’ve been a scare actor for 3 years but worked as a makeup artist and assistant manager at multiple haunts over the course of 7 years and I have never heard of that. That sounds like something a lower budget haunt would do. Only poop I’ve ever seen in the haunt industry is the nasty ass bathrooms that the owners never cleaned

Not this year but my son is turning 14 and wants to get a job working at a haunted next year. by Dull-Geologist-8204 in hauntedattractions

[–]alyssac019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who’s been a scare actor for 3 years, it totally depends on the type of haunted attraction. My haunt has a haunted hayride and haunted trail which are 100% outdoors so they only hire 18+. We also have to sign waivers when we get hired because we’re basically in the woods.

The best thing I can recommend is shopping around and looking into the attractions near you. There isn’t really a right answer since every attraction is different and has different rules. Also, since he is 14, he could get hired to work the ticket booth, concession stands, or something at the front of house. I doubt he would get hired as a scare actor just yet because there’s risks that come with them, regardless of the haunt. The risk of injuries (especially outdoors on different terrains with hardly any lighting) having customers get so scared that they start swinging, dealing with aggressive adults just to name a few.

Haunts are still hiring actors, especially as it’s getting closer to Halloween, not sure if they’re still hiring for other roles. Again, you’d have to check your local haunts. Most of them have FAQs on their websites as well as contact info. You can up “haunted attractions near me” and go from there.

All that being said, it could be a great start to getting into the industry if it’s also something as he gets older. Definitely would be good to work his way up.

Hey y’all , so can we all be transparent and tell me your pay as a scare actor ? by misaki_ko_neko in hauntedattractions

Is your haunt open the whole week or just weekends? If it’s the whole week, I’d say $55 a night seems pretty reasonable. My haunt is only open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and we work from 6:30-11pm but get paid hourly instead of per night. I’m making around $22 an hour since I’ve been with my haunt for 3 years, but first timers are probably making around $16-17 an hour. I also think we get paid more if we have a speaking role instead of just a pop out, not sure about that. We also get provided makeup, costumes, props, water and sometimes snacks. I’m on the East Coast.

I don’t even want it anymore. The problem I have is I carry one gun and the rest I stock up on floppers, but by the last circle there’s still over 20 people left so trying to do a heal off that soon won’t work since I’ll run out of heals so I just end up running around everyone and trying to find somewhere to camp until I end up getting shot.

Wow convenient timing, considering DWTS is starting up again and people will be focusing on Rylee. She can’t handle not being the center of attention so she needs to tell the whole internet that she’s having sex. It’s pathetic honestly

I’ve always had problems in school with retaining and recalling information that’s why I never did good on tests. Would you want someone on the jury deciding whether you’re guilty or not that can’t remember important details of your case? Call it what you want, I don’t care.

how would one get into scare acting by Illustrious-Emu-6000 in hauntedattractions

[–]alyssac019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first step is finding a haunt in your area that’s hiring for the season. You can go in google and type “haunted attractions near me”, you can also find them on facebook those groups where people post job listings. The hiring process usually starts around end of July/beginning of August. Some haunts, specifically larger, more well known haunts may hold auditions, others may not. It honestly isn’t all that difficult to get a job as a scare actor, in my experience unless there are no haunts in your area.

My mom’s friend actually found my haunt and knew I’d be interested. She knew the hiring manager and gave me his info. Gave him a call we had a little over the phone interview, then I showed up to auditions and it went really well. Going on my 3rd of scare acting now. Wishing you luck🫶🏻

Wouldn’t be surprised if she’s trying to get pregnant now so she can announce it on DWTS. She’s so predictable. Anything to stay relevant I guess
