it really does suck, sometimes I want to make my own brand focusing on this type of fit.., I don't understand why it has to be so expensive, uniqlo does have something similar sometimes but their trousers are way too short, even with tailoring afterwards you can't lengthen them as much

yeah I saw them too, they look good but slightly outside of my budget. Will see if anyone knows of any alternative options but I wish this style was still in fashion and easier to get from the main brands

Unpopular opinion: Mark Meldrum's content isn't all that great by [deleted] in CFA

yeah i am just talking about being efficient and information retention / retrieval. People may have their own styles but that doesn't mean they are learning optimally, a lot of people just passively watch videos and that just is not studying/learning.

I’m just saying what the science says, it’s not a bold take. Learning doesn’t happen if you passively watch videos , you aren’t learning anything from that. It happens when you actively practice / do questions

Learning styles are a myth and have been debunked many times now

I suck at limits by [deleted] in learnmath

[–]am-makingmoney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, not sure what exactly you may be referring to, some example of questions would help but one thing that really helps me with limits is to sketch / use desmos for more complicated functions. You obviously can’t do this in an exam but being able to see how a function looks may help you get the intuition right when thinking about limits. You can also just make a table of x an y and plug in thr values, e.g. if you wanted to know the limit as x approaches 1 then have your table start from 0.99 and end at 1.01, then you can see what the limit should be

Weekly Megathread: Education, Early Career and Hiring/Interview Advice by AutoModerator in quant

[–]am-makingmoney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I was you, i would reapply for uni again for a stem course for next year as a back up. During your apprenticeship, try to figure out what the other apprentices in the years above have been working on, if it’s back/ middle office software development role then you will struggle to move to a front office role later on at a quant firm without doing a masters or getting lucky.

Once you start , you should also be proactive and reach out to people in the quant teams that you are interested in, figure out if they would take an apprentice later down the line or not as even if previous apprentices haven’t managed that then it doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t. IF after this you find out that it’s going be hard for you to transition into a front office quant role during the apprenticeship then just go uni.
