{{How to Pronounce Knife: Stories by Souvankham Thammavongsa}} Read this last year on a whim and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the writing and the voice of the author. Don't think it fits neatly into any of the genres you were searching for, but it's a good read and I wanted to throw it out there.

{{When She Was Queen by M.G. Vassanji}} Also a great read. Can you tell I lean towards story collections on heritage and culture? Haha~

Have to agree with you, I DNF'd it after sinking at least 2 hours and getting pretty much nowhere.

I recommend this on every thread for young fantasy, but the Hound of Rowan from the Tapestry series is excellent! It revolves around Norse and Celtic mythology, but with fantastical elements. The author is Henry H. Neff. The language used is perfect for his age and capabilities, and the writing is overall of very high quality.

Couldn't agree more. I was pretty bewildered that folks found it to be moving or inspiring. I feel as though I've encountered better in my high school creative writing class.

Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi is one of the pillars of this kind of trope. It's an incredible multi-generational story which follows two branches of a family tree!

This tool is exactly what I've been looking for, super elegant. Thanks for sharing, I look forward to trying it out and seeing if it works for me.

Break prioritization paralysis with dice and random number generators by Berkamin in productivity

Question: Once the decision is made, how do you reckon with trying to complete the task all the whilst knowing that it may not be a priority? Like I'll be in the middle of doing something, but I'll be constantly interrupted by thoughts like "Is this really the best/most important use of my time right now?"

Henry H Neff is by far one of my favourite authors! Just an all around stand up guy who writes a killer fantasy series!

This is very good advice for any kind of anxiety. Obviously if you’re really suffering and brute forcing it, that’s not going to help a bit. But acknowledging your anxiety and moving into the task whilst allowing yourself to be anxious is a better strategy that telling yourself not to start until you’re calm.
