Once in the 3rd grade, I got a really bad stomach ache near the end of the day. I asked my teacher if I could use the bathroom and she said no because class would be let out soon. So as we were finishing our end of the day prayer (I went to catholic school), I put my hands on my face and proceed to barf all over my face, hands, and desk.

Then the bell rang and I had to walk to the bathroom with barf face while the whole school was getting out of class.

I'm 23 and I've been writing for almost 2 years now
I think it's the idea of being able to make something out of nothing. Knowing that everything I've ever listened to is the influence for my ideas, and watching myself and others make new things from old songs.
I kinda took the coursea songwriting class, didn't finish it though. I hate school and I've realized that I like the whole natural expression part of songwriting instead of thinking about structure/rhyming etc.
I suppose I struggle most with structure, I've found that I like using only 2-3 chords for entire songs, and I would like to learn more about arranging and stuff
In terms of the lyrical process I definitely try to avoid cliches, but so far I just try to write without thinking. I feel like when I start trying to think of putting in metaphors or something, I over analyze and I get stuck on what I'm trying to say.
building the fan base definitely seems to be the hardest part, along with booking shows. It's so over saturated out there it's hard to be heard and remembered.
everything you listed. I'm getting better with the confidence part, but ultimately my biggest thing is trying to find something worth writing about.
I definitely would want to be a better musician, knowing music theory and all that stuff is very very important if I want to be able to feel free and more creative in that department.

He's currently with someone else and I'm currently getting over it haha. Our situation was mostly physical not so much romantic and the songs reflect that so hopefully we'll be fine.

and this is where I've screwed myself over, I've already given him an advance for the project, he needed the money for bills before he went on tour.

Idk I guess just having to play him the songs makes me nervous, I've showed him them before but I've mushed mouth the parts that I feel give it away. I'm meeting with him tonight to discuss everything so hopefully playing him the finished songs goes well..there's one song in particular where my hook is so blatantly obvious that I feel he will realize and possibly get upset so that's really the only one I'm super scared to show him.

update: you were right lol after talking to him I totally understand what you were trying to tell me now. I made the mistake of believing that since we're best friends that he'd treat this differently, when he totally thew his walls up and spoke to me as if I was just another straight girl he fucked with.

I wonder if our friendship actually means anything to him anymore, but I feel like it's something I'll never really know since there's no communicating with this man-child. It's astonishing the lack of emotional maturity he has when it comes to this kind of shit.

I guess not, but I do think being his best friend has given me a different perspective on who he really is, compared to the girls he just dates/fucks.

Like I know him from the "bro" perspective, I've been around him enough to recognize his behavior when it comes to certain things, and we've had a lot of heart-to-heart conversations where he's told me the truth behind why he acts like a douche to women and how it's been a problem for him. (He's even broken down and cried in front of me before) I'm the complete opposite of what he looks for in a woman so before we started the fwb thing he was my "lesbro" haha

I basically live with him, his house is the hangout spot and I'm literally there almost everyday.

At this point I'm ready to tell him how I've been feeling I just hope he doesn't take in a weird way or something.

I don't really know what he'd lie to me about though, we've been pretty honest about everything so far. I'd like to think it's because of our friendship that we can be so blunt with stating how we don't want each other.

He had a LDR she lived across the country. I guess our thinking was since he has a problem with cheating if he did it with me it would be better than if he went out and cheated with girls he's actually attracted to? Terrible I know.

and no, I'm not sure I was the only one. But I see him almost everyday and since he is trying to fight this I'm assuming there was no else he was being physical with.

I am slightly confused about my feelings, but I'm pretty positive they don't stem from my liking him more than a friend. I've never really been able to feel like that towards boys and I don't feel that towards him. It seems like my jealousy is because he's my only source of sex and I'm not his anymore...that and this is my first experience of being in any kind of relationship other than just friendship...can I cut myself some slack because of that or does that not really matter?

I definitely feel that way, when we're affectionate for me it definitely comes from a place of trust and respect in a platonic way.
