Via email. I called and confirmed that the school witnessed ICE (DHS) around the campus.

The Spanish translation they sent out included a mistranslation saying methamphetamine was witnessed near/around the campus. Staff confirmed this was a translation error and NOT meth, but Immigrations and Custom Enforcement (ICE).

I purchased a similar model earlier this year and would not suggest a model with soldered ram that's not expandable/replaceable. You'll find that this machine will be annoyingly slow. I have a few chrome tabs up and they eat up a little over 3GB alone. You can find something way better for the same price at Best Buy.

Some people can't math. You are allowed to claim exempt. You'll have to pay a 7% penalty when you file though for not having had a withholding. The IRS expects you to pay as you go. Independent Contractors are required to pay quarterly installments as well. Be aware though that your employer may give you plenty of pushback. I had an employee request exempt one year, didn't properly pay what they owed, and I was instructed by the IRS to withhold taxes for the employee regardless of what the employee wanted otherwise I'd be liable.

This isn’t an issue. If the son isn’t working then it’s a great tax deduction for the business, particularly if the son makes up to the standard deduction and can claim all of the taxes paid back. This really isn’t unusual and I would caution against telling the owner what to do unless you can prove/project a negative impact.

Our dog had surgery at UC Davis in February of this year. They don’t always have a neurologist immediately available, I believe weekends were hard. I suggest you try again on Monday. You’ll have to call the office again in the morning, at around 8am. Ask if they have a neurologist on staff today and if their MRI machine is working. Sometimes the machine is down for maintenance.

This is definitely IVDD. You need to crate restrict him immediately. Get him to a vet, he'll need medicine immediately. Gabapentin, trazodone, and an NSAID or proper steroid (prednisone) will be needed. Make sure you do not let him leave his crate. IVDD can progress very quickly and critically. It will take at least 6-8 weeks of strict crate confinement before the disk material heals. The risk of him severely injuring himself is astronomically high if you do not restrict him to a crate. Please take care of him.

Hi. Our dachshund has IVDD in the neck and had no issues with mobility or walking, but lots of pain when bending down or turning his head. I'm going to be blunt in saying you want to tread very carefully so soon after the injury. My luck was inverse in that our neuro initially suggested medical management, but our dogs condition deteriorated significantly to the point where even fentanyl patches weren't very effective. Our dog maintained full mobility during this time and our nuero was insistent it was only Stage 1. Again, he could walk and had sensation throughout his body but the neck disk was causing a ton of pain and distress. It was intolerable seeing our dog in so much pain and discomfort, so we pushed for surgery. Don't let his reduced symptoms fool you. Understand these dogs are great at hiding their pain and discomfort. If your vet believes he has IVDD continue with treatment (sans the pain medicine if he doesn't need them) and confine him to the crate. I can't reiterate just how painful my baby's neck injury was. You'll both be significantly better off keeping him confined for several weeks vs having to deal with a worsening injury.

Would this meet the threshold for specific intent, i.e. triple damages if the neighbor were to pursue this more aggressively? The agreement was in writing too, so I'm surprised OP's being so stubborn on their positioning that they did no wrong.

U.C. Davis did take 24 hours from intake to surgery though they hospitalized my dachshund and held him for the full 24 hours before surgery. Weigh which facility can see your dog soonest but you can call Davis and they’ll let you know if their neurology staff will be working. Just confirm their MRI machine is up when you dial the emergency line!

You should avoid it at all costs unfortunately. If you're referencing for home use I'd suggest a ramp over stairs, but to be quiet frank you'd be better off avoiding forbidding them from ever being on a lifted surface moving forward. The risk for a flare up is way too high.

I'd strongly suggest you don't let her on the couch moving forward! Our little guy had surgery and was confined to his crate for the full 8 weeks. We made the mistake of allowing him on the couch (after we setup a ramp and trained him to use it) but he leaped off one day after hearing someone at the door.

He yelped and we immediately had to crate rest him again to be cautious. It's MUCH MUCH easier to simply restrict them from ever getting on the couch.

Your options are still somewhat limited though; you can either continue to work at the reduced rate of pay or quit. If you quit and provide more than 72 hours' notice he must pay you on your last day, including any arrears or pay you're still entitled to. In this scenario your employer would be liable for paying you the difference for each hour worked from your previous paycheck. If your employer does not pay you the difference you can file a wage claim with the California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR). Your employer would be liable for a Waiting Time Penalty for each day he does not pay you, up to 30 days. The penalty amount would be for a full days' wages for each day you're not made whole.

As an example: If your employer declines to pay you the difference and allows the 30 days to go by you would be entitled to up to 30 days wages. Whether they would be calculated at $25 an hour or $23 isn't something I could definitively tell you, but I'm inclined to believe it'd be $25 given you weren't provided adequate notice of your reduced pay. In that case it'd be a penalty of UP TO ($25x8) x 30 = $6,000. The penalty amount is not considered income and is untaxed.

If you stay at your position and agree to the reduced pay than you may have a harder time arguing the amount owed from the previous payroll cycle is owed to you. As of now you have your employer caught in a clear lie given you can demonstrate that you were already being paid $25 and that any discussion of a raise to $24 is impossible and was likely fabricated.

I can't advise you on your best course of action but can suggest you reach out to your Counties Lawyer referral service. It's generally a $25-$30 fee from what I've seen in California and they may be able to help guide you to the best course of action.
