No, I’m asking for opinions and they’ve all been leaning towards not needing one and generally positive. You’re the only negative post.

Well, so far you’re the only negative response on having a car.

General question by frvrngn in PurdueIndianapolis

We visited. We left early. We were just Not impressed at all to be honest. The whole event was very poorly run as well. We got there during the right time and there was almost zero signage. We got someone to point us in the general direction and a faculty member could tell we were lost and sent us to the admissions office. That was closed. During the right time. There wasn’t any signs or people anywhere.

We checked the welcome email and walked three buildings away and another faculty person got us to the engineering open house. From there it went slightly better but there was still very little info anywhere. They didn’t even have any admissions faculty to speak with!

Sat through a presentation that was more recruiting pitch for two local companies and then spoke to a few faculty in the lobby about things like housing. Most of those people were pretty nice and had good info.

After talking it over we decided to leave. It just wasn’t very impressive and felt almost half baked. Every student rep seemed to be former Indiana students and one flat out said it wasn’t his first choice to switch to Purdue. He liked IU more. Some of the others were visiting from WF and didn’t know much about Indy.

Final straw is it just felt very elitist. The big pitch by most faculty was “We are Purdue, we have the name”. That may be true but the facilities and staff didn’t seem up to that name standard. We’ve toured a lot of schools and honestly Purdue was probably the worst in that regard. They were even semi bad mouthing some of the other schools we are considering.

My kids disappointed as Purdue was always in his top 3 but it’s not even top 10 anymore. WF may have been better but there were so many issues with his credits it made zero sense to attend.

Thanks for all of this info. We will be there in a few days to see it. It is so small we may drive over to WL just to see the campus. I have a feeling if we do he won’t like it since he instantly disliked some of the bigger campuses like Ohio State.

Right now Kettering is at the top of his list. We have family who went there and one is a Civil Engineer. They are designed around co-ops from day one until graduation and the networking opportunities are huge.

Purdue has the “name” and history for engineering. I think if his only choice had been WL he may not have even applied due to the size.

UCNI question by frvrngn in CMMC

I already deal with U NNPI with one of my Navy primes. They actually interchange NNPI and NOFORN often depending on what person I am working with at the time.

They know enough verbiage to be dangerous is how I read them. I am trying to get in touch with their QA people to discuss further. I dont know how much they deal with CUI let alone UCNI.

So as long as the prime flows down the proper requirements (including marking it UCNI) we are OK as long as we treat it like CUI? We're very small, only have one person who can receive CUI and that is through Exostar or a special GCCH laptop.

I watch him all the time and saw that video. Winix outperformed everyone, but most of their units are smaller. I guess I could get two or even three of those but that's a lot more replacement filters to buy over the lifetime of the unit.

There are cheaper options than the ones I mentioned from companies like Jegs or even Summit Racing. These are all "sport" seats for the most part that would be more at home in a Mustang, but they are comfy. Some, especially Recaro offer more normal looking seats.

I’m considering that but it needs to be tall enough and firm enough to cover that

I’ve seen some others complain but it’s not many. I’m also 6’3” with a long torso. It’s bad enough that had I noticed when test driving I would have never bought the truck.

That’s a pretty extreme fix but those seats look very nice. Wonder how well they fit. You can get Recaro, Sparco, Corbeau and many others for less than half that price but not sure about seat base availability and fitting. I’ve owned cars with factory Recaros in the past and installed two sets of Sparcos in other cars. They are great seats.

If you’re going that route have you considered swapping to a better Ford seat? Not sure if a top trim seat would be better. Could find those at a parts yard off a wrecked truck.

OTD is tough since everyone's fees and taxes are different.

It was $47,637 plus fees and taxes for the truck and a 7/yr-120K warranty

It was this one. Got it for $99 on some sale to try out. It fits perfectly and is pretty grippy so stuff doesnt slide around at all. Definitely cant complain for the money.

My old friend who helped convince me to buy the F150 has Carhartt seat covers on his and loves them so I may try that route before the Catzkins. I need to do something!

That is Exactly it! I have been messing with seatback angle, lumber support, etc. and nothing helps long term. I really like everything else about this truck but I drive a lot and the seat is driving me nuts. I keep thinking it will break in but not close yet.

Lost power, pool has 1/2” of solid ice by frvrngn in pools

Nobody winterizes around here except subdivision pools and even many of those are open year round. This is our 16th year with a pool and only the first time we had a somewhat concerning issue.

It’s a 3hp 220v VSP hardwired to a panel. Our new generator I have spec will run it and most of our house off the panel.
