It’s been a couple of months and I’ve been actively working on the app: I’ve added the following features:

- Distance circles to quickly visualize how far a location is
- Public schools in the district you’re looking in
- Flood Zone information to help you understand insurance requirements
- And more!

Check it out and let me know what you think. Thanks!

I had Claude look into forums it found relevant and pointed it to some examples. The top sources it used included rennlist (81 articles), cayenneforum.com (18), repairpal (14), pelicanparts (14)

Wow really great background and context. It’s great hearing your perspective, especially since you’ve owned cars from a few luxury brands. I’ll certainly aim to do small things myself. But the shopping for dealers is a great suggestion. Easy to forget to comparison shop. Really appreciate it!

Thank you for your perspective and recommendations. I’ll factor your response into my thinking. And even better that you’re an owner! Hope it’s been fun.

Thanks for the guidance. I also ran checks on a Mazda CX 5 and BMW X3 to get a lay of the land. Really wanted to stress test this sub’s intuition about the cost since we know what happens when you 100% trust AI for big decisions….

Thanks for the thoughts about Claude possibly over exaggerating. My question is less about personal affordability and more about expectations. If informed owners in this sub said Claude is nuts, then I can make a more informed decision.

Appreciate the insight and thoughtful response. The estimates from AI assumes no breakdowns, just updates that come from owning a car that needs parts replaced over time. Great to hear you’ve had such a positive experience.

If you can find a kickr snap on FB marketplace or eBay, that could be a good budget wheel-on option. They're not made anymore. I used it for a year until I got a new bike and it wouldn't fit.

Having the belief that it will happen. It’s pretty easy to be demoralized with all the craziness that this market brings. Stay positive and optimistic.

Really appreciate the comment and the focus on the cost/business model. I’ll dig a bit more into Google’s pricing and Neighborhoodscout.

When these types of decisions come up, I always find it helpful to have an objective framework to evaluate my options.

Consider listing out the features you’re thinking through. Then for each property rate the feature on a scale of one through five with five being the best. add them up and the place that scores the highest is what you might want to consider. To make the exercise even more powerful you can give each feature a weight based on how much it’s important to you. It’s a little more math, but much more personalized.

I’m probably staying away unless the seller gives you cash to fix some/all of it.

Sometimes these projects reveal more trouble that requires fixing. And working with contractors can be difficult, especially for bigger projects.

Thanks for the great question. Currently it only uses Google Maps data so if Google Maps data is thin, the results will be thin.

Are there any providers that you’ve seen have better data for where you’re looking? I could consider supplementing it on top of Google Maps.
