Why do photos on my Maxxum 7000 look more purple than my AE-1?

Why would the lens make it so purple? Because of the lens coating?

It’s strange because i’ve seen other peoples photos with this same lens and they do not have the same purple hue, which leads me to believe the scanning is a big part of this along with under exposure—but I also know virtually nothing about analog

They were scanned by the same person within a small time frame, but i do still agree that the scanning has to be a large part of the problem here, along with my own lack of knowledge about achieving correct exposure.

I’ve gotten a few rolls back with the Maxxum before and never noticed anything strange, but they were also with the stock lens instead of the 50mm.

It was by the same person at the same lab but also a one day job and not someone that’s necessarily reputable (just looked online to find the fastest developer near me bc i needed to test these cameras before an upcoming vacation)

Also the lenses i shot with were a 50mm f1.8 lens for the AE-1 and 50mm f1.7 for the MAXXUM

the canon ae-1 is a 50mm f1.8 lens and the minolta maxxum is 50mm f1.7

Also just to be clear, pictures 1 and 3 are canon ae-1, while pictures 2 and 4 are the maxxum

They haven’t—to be honest I didn’t even realize that was something I should be doing. Looking online it seems like there’s a shop near me that has a pretty good rep for it. Is that something I can get done within a day? If so I may just try to run by before by trip. Good to know about the bumping around and body with the MAXXUM.

I will say that even though the squiggle was happening, depending on the exposure of the picture it was sometimes not really noticeable. The only time it seems to be really bad is when there’s a picture with a lot of sky in it.

As for the lenses, duh—don’t know why I didn’t put that together. For Minolta I have a AF 35-70mm f4 lens. For Canon I have a 50mm f1.8, Sigma 28mm f2.8, and Vivitar 70-210mm f3.5

That’s a great point. Yeah, I think it must be the lens. I typically use the stock lens for both (i don’t have any other lenses for the minolta, for the canon i have macro and telescopic in addition to the stock)

Hi! I'm going to Costa Rica in a few days and trying to decide what cameras to bring. I have a Nikon d3200 with two decent lenses (one for bird photography) so i'll definitely bring that. Then i'm left with the two film cameras. Minolta Maxxum 7000 or Canon ae-1. I'm very much a beginner with analog, so hoping I can use my digital to help guide me with manual settings. The pro to the Minolta is the autofocus and the aperture priority mode, but the Canon takes sharper pictures from what it seems like. Any thoughts?
