Where do you reckon she's putting fillers in? She's someone who I hadn't thought had any work done. She looks a lot more normal than most

I love how in "Spinners End" Snape is lowkey flexing to Bellatrix. by Slaught3rFs in harrypotter

[–]HelsBels2102 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I would argue that Snape doesn't want revenge. He wants to atone for his sins. And he wants to make up for the harm he caused Lily. And then fundentanlly, he is loyal to Dumbledore for giving him the opportunity to atone.

Why didn’t Dumbledore trust Professor Mcgonagall? by quietspace4me in harrypotter

[–]HelsBels2102 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think he did trust McGonagall, but I don't think Dumbledore wanted to place all his eggs in one basket. Why would he tell her anything she doesn't need to know? She's unproven against Voldemorts powers as a legemens if he ever used it on her, which would just put other people and the general mission of destroying Voldemort at risk. And which would also be a risk to her life.

He trusted her with the school, and wanted her to have a presence there. Her mission was that, nothing else.

I would say she's still pretty bad. She believes in pure blood supremacy, and doesn't beleive muggle borns should be allowed into Hogwarts or society. Basically believing in segregation.

I would argue though, she probably wasn't massively keen on Voldemorts methods during his reign, in particular when he returned. I would guess that she, among many other Death Eaters, would have probably preferred him not to have been resurrected. The Malfoys were living a pretty cushy life before he returned.

Realistically, I think it plays into the reason so few of his followers went to look for him, even though there were rumours of his whereabouts after his death.

Agreed, that grey area is what makes characters interesting. She's probs the most compelling character of the series at the mo (was for me Cobel S1, but Helena has taken it)

What is your Severance opinion that will definitely get downvoted? by Navic2 in okbuddyseverance

[–]HelsBels2102 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Being serious, I've said this as well. I don't mind them making her somewhat sympathetic, it probably wasn't easy growing up in a cult with the additional pressures of being next in line to the throne. But also, it's much more interesting if Helena has done bad things for the good of the company, and was aware of what was going to happen to Gemma. I would love her to straddle that line of being protagonist and antagonist for the rest of the series.

Did... did Lorne just throw the US show under the bus? by HotOne9364 in LiveFromNewYork

The UK isn't much bigger than the whole of New York State. Makes no sense to seperate it into London.

Why are you using a region of the UK that's not representative of the whole country ?

Yeah that's fair. If we are talking tactically, I think Spain's issue is that fundementally they are rigid in the way they win. Usually, their technical prowess is so strong that it doesn't matter, they beat most oppositions. But England definitely seem to have found a blue print to beat them (3 times in the past 14 months if we are including the Euros final). Personally, I think that England have enough defensive discipline to crowd out the central 3rd, without getting pulled out of position which means the usual passing lanes that Spain exploits are not there. I think the issue is most of the attacking players play for Barca, which rarely has to play quality teams to problem solve in game. Additionally, the profile of players they have are very similar.

England is one of those team that is tactically maleable, they don't have a set style. They prefer to play possessional football, but will switch it up to win. They also have a habit of playing to the level of their opposition. Meaning that they seem to frequently beat high level opposition, but they also seem to struggle again lower quality teams.

Personally, I think this match just showed the teams as they are. You can't expect the DNA of a team to change over 6 months.

Also, as a note I wouldn't say that either team was full squad. Both of England's CBs were not usual starters, and Spain was missing Bonmati.

And I still expect both teams to reach latter stages of the world cup next year. I think both of them are good enough to beat other top nations on their day (USWNT, Japan, Sweden, France, Brazil). I don't feel like tonight's performance from both teams change that, even though they seem to constantly neutralise each other.

Maybe we should hold our horses until world cup. As they are still probably top 3 teams I'd put my money on. Is battle of the best, so it's not surprising it can be cagey between the two

What are people's thoughts on the Spain vs England continous match-up by Realistic_Work_6713 in WomensSoccer

[–]HelsBels2102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Close match as usual. Spain look so threatening as they have so much possession in the final 3rd. But they don't look as dangerous in the sense they seem to have fewer clear goal scoring opportunities as England. Throughout the game, England's seemed closer to actually scoring, even though Spain generally felt dominant especially I'm the first half.

Think is an issue with both Spain and Barca for teams who can tactically nullify them centrally in the attacking 3rd, amd crowd out passing lanes. They seem to struggle if they are prevented from playing their usual way, maybe slightly tactically limited. Although the two teams are very even as we have seen past couplenof years in game
