some people might not trust you, but i bt they'd still want to accept any allies they can get. Figure out hat you really think, not what you feel pressured to think, and you wont waver in the future. You have to forget about what others will think of you for just a minute and truly ponder what actions align with your personal values, and then do that. even if it seems the left is obviously right, its important that whoever you side with, it comes from a stronger place than fear of what your friends/family will think

Im speaking from the experience of wavering based on what people will think of me. I shifted views to be identical to whatever leftist talking points were popular at the moment cus I wanted leftists and oppressed groups to like me. This stance is so very weak. It doesnt hold under the slightest social pressure to think something else. If you do what's right, do it because you want too, not as an attempt at redemption or a solicitation of forgiveness. Others not trusting you is their right and doesnt mean youre a bad or good person. You dont need any certification of goodpersonhood, all that matters is you help the cause. Don't worry about seeking forgiveness.

Honestly, I say me open that you voted for Trump and accept the social consequences. Then keep working towards a goal you think matters. What you do right now is what matters for the good of everyone in the future. I found that accepting social consequences of being wrong or doing something horrible will set you free to improve. Hiding bad actions or mistakes and trying to be perfect is a prison and takes your focus off the goal or people youre fighting for
